Winner avoids last place. When was the last time W&M finished in the CAA cellar?

Tribe favored by 4.5

Man, SB, you REALLY don't want to go there...unless you are just in a mood to be totally bummed out. I mean, this IS William & Mary Basketball... home of the bad beats.

We finished 8th (of 8 teams) in 1986-87, under Barry Parkhill, going 2-12 in conference.
We finished 8th in 1993-94, under Chuck Swenson, going 2-12 in conference.

We finished next to last on 5 different occasions, including losing to American, in a play-in game in 1999.

So, your answer is 1993-94. (30th Anniversary...)

Alas, one of these lists will be expanded today. Let's hope it is the "next to last" list (Dane already owns one of those, too, in 2021-2022).

The really sad part is that I set courtside for most of those events.

When our 3’s are falling, the offense opens up and looks so much better. Pulls D out a bit and makes it easier to be aggressive when driving.

Shooting 50% from the floor (15 of 30) and 40% from 3 (8 made). Biggest lead has been 14 points. Winning rebound battle by one, 15-14.

Gotta keep Caleb from any quick fouls in the 2nd Half (already has 3).

RE: MBB vs Hampton
Much better look today (for the first half). We minimized the customary late half slide to go into the locker room up 8, down from 14.

Hopefully Hampton will follow our custom not make halftime adjustments...

It would be an appreciated change to put together 2 good halves in the same game.

Tribe hasn't taken but one shot (missed) in the last 3 minutes. Gotta get the offense going again.

RE: MBB vs Hampton
well, we got it going, ...a bit. We went 2 for 9 down the stretch, but it's still a good win, with four in double figures.

We’re not last! A cheer for the Tribe.

Did we just witness the last regular season win of the Fisher era? Inquiring minds want to know.

Glad Houpt had a good final home game.

Case injured left leg late in the game and and did not return.

Dane is a nice guy and it was good for him to win what hopefully is his final home game as HC with family and friends in attendance.

So we came in 3rd in league attendance behind the two southern basketball schools: CofC and UNCW.

Incredible that we came in that high considering the disarray and apathy (antipathy?) around the program.

Does it mean we have the building blocks for a strong CAA program?
Does it mean we are in an incredibly weak conference?

5 years ago we were on the verge of averaging 5,000+ in attendance.

Not sure I agree with you on attendance. We averaged just over 4000 per game in Fischer's first season. Before that, it was less or similar. Your point is well taken though, and I think we can get to the 4/5k with a good coach and a winning team. Game experience is much better this season and it could improve next year with better concessions and beer in the stands.

Hampton brought some fans which is not the norm for most of our opponents.

Unfortunately, that could be true even if Dane does come back next year.
