1987 NCAA Tournament
With our hoops team having another mediocre season, I want to go back to a time when we were winning and going to multiple tournaments.
NU vs. Purdue in the 1987 1st round of the East Regional in Syracuse.
From what I've been told, this was a bad seeding for #14 NU. Purdue wasn't a 3 seed with the kind of year they were having. Reggie (in his last game at NU) had burned his hand in a cooking accident weeks before the game. Purdue's Doug Lee killed us.
This was the first NCAA Tournament without Jim Calhoun, as his assistant Karl Fogel was the 1st year HC (and my coach when I was at NU).

RE: 1987 NCAA Tournament
We did a lower seed than we deserved in my opinion as that was the year we started well in Alaska. A 13 would have given us TCU in that region, a far less talented team (though both lost in Round 2). I was there and remember it well as it was the last ride for that group so disappointing. We had chances but just couldn't get a stop and lost the shootout ultimately.
