Total unjustified BS on the part of the officials! It's swimming and he's not taunting, just celebrating a record swim. Totally asinine and the officials who called this need to be reprimanded or dismissed.

I feel bad for him. This should be over turned.

We are used to this.

A Wake Forest fan injures a Duke basketball player, so naturally the ACC officials punish a swimmer for NC State... makes perfect sense to me!

Probably a new judge who was inexperienced regarding applying rules and felt they had no discretion.

It is a ****** lesson for the kid on how people can act when they have they have authority and are given a reason to act on it.

The celebration had zero impact on the race. He and his teammate had finished the race; his teammates’ lane was no longer active. They could have provided a warning, but a disqualification is not warranted.
