I won't fault you for not reading JMU boards but you are wrong. Even if you put the emotion driven in-game opinions aside, there was a strong contingent that didn't believe he was the best QB on the team when JMU was 5-0.

The only unanimous opinion on McCloud is his amazing in-season development. Cignetti and Sunseri get a lot of that credit from our fans due to what they consistently did with JMU QBs (a couple P5/G5 castaways to SBC POY/OPOYs and a couple struggling backups to CAA POYs and All Americans). Plenty of posters are on record here and the JMU board as being optimistic on McCloud a year ago strictly because of that history. Also worth noting - Cignetti took a few JMU guys with only a year of eligibility left to IU, but left McCloud. Some fans now question how much success McCloud brought himself versus the coaches/systems.

In addition, to the coaches/system impact, McCloud is going from a supporting cast that included 9 guys (not incl. McCLoud) that were 1st and 2nd team SBC to a team that is returning 2 from those lists.

Basically, any posts you are interpreting as negative on McCloud (which I'm not seeing here) is more likely to level TxSt's expectations and isn't ill will towards McCloud (similar to Withers - granted plenty were happy for Withers to leave). Some TxSt fans are likely expecting a POY caliber QB week 1 and it may be that isn't seen until a few games into the season given the above.

I'm thinking TXST sees upgrades at QB and didn't lose much on offense. On paper the offense will be better than last year.

If the defense can improve, TXST should be a very good team. With how many key players graduate after this season, this is the year to win.

We certainly did just review our board. It was never about his play, but he needed an attitude adjustment when he came in and that seemed to slowly happen.

He seems like a good kid and we all wish him well, but just stating facts in regards to how coaches viewed him.

Yeah...good kid, some rumored work ethic issues, very accurate - but just wouldn't run (when there was wide WIDE open green...) and too many bad decisions / desperate plays

You won't find any Dukes hating on the guy, wish him the best! He did a lot for and with JMU

Texas state gonna need a defense if they want to win the west… last years defense won’t cut it.

Amen. He’s a talent, and should help TxSt. Good luck to Jordan!

RE: Jordan McCloud transfers to........Texas State
I felt pretty confident when McCloud lined up at QB for us. He does have an injury history though (not last year), so guessing that played a role in his reluctance to run more. If your OC isn't stubborn and does cater to McCloud's strengths, Texas State should have a decent offense.
