RE: UMass to the MAC
If you try to BASE your decision---- fearing a bunch of dominoes "might" fall a certain way just to have "stability" then I can't help you.

Why would you want to leave a conference with desirable teams for one who doesnt have any?
They might feel like the conference will continue to devolve. If you’re going to be the in a conference with no desirable schools, might as well be the more regional one.

The MAC offers stability and a lineup of nearby schools for Western. Do they mostly suck at sports and is it an end to any hope of upward mobility for WKU. Yes, probably. But hey, if they’re that afraid of being passed up by our schools in the future and they decide they might as well just get it over with now, who are we to deter them.

That’s a decision for WKU to make.

Believe that is what you saw in the SBC3 moves. We are what we are.
To me JSU is closer to that state than WKU. But I have no desire to move to the MAC or SBC. I like our set up and the addition of Delaware. Not in favor of Mo St but as Ive stated before if admitted I will be a big fan of the Mo St addition.

RE: UMass to the MAC
UMASS must have hoped CUSA would have allowed football only. MAC it appears was their first choice all along but the MAC demanded all sports, so lets talk to CUSA. CUSA must have gave the same reply if invited.

Now the big question is what happens in the A10?
Does Whichita or Temple move to the A10? Or do they look at the American East, MVC or CAA?

They aren't pressed to add anyone. They will have 14 basketball members after UMass departs.

The best case outcome for WKU is the raiding of the AAC. The problem with that is all of the attractive teams in the conference are gone and you are left with the previous version of CUSA which isn't much better than the MAC because none of those schools have any hope left either and the TV deal is going to get renegotiated lower so at best you will have a better deal for a few years and it is probably not going to be a lot better than the renegotiated MAC deal.

It just comes down to where you want to play and neither is what you would want for yourself because schools have given away their autonomy.

RE: UMass to the MAC
Matt Brown has an extra point piece today and we have this as well.

Quote:Another attractive component for the MAC, according to other sources familiar with the decision, was that “there were more schools in the MAC that looked like UMass”, not just from an institutional perspective, but from an athletic budget and support perspective.

So what happens next? What does this mean for the A-10, MAC, and CUSA?
