Their fans will blame the Big 12/MWC if they end up on the wrong side of the bubble lol

It’s crazy how teams get better during the season isn’t it? Doesn’t bode well for conferences that made their bones in November 07-coffee3

a team losing to **** ass Notre Dame doesn't really show that they're improving.

Especially since they are 2-3 in last 5 games, and 5-5 in last 10 games

Lots of teams have improved during the year. WVU for instance lost a bunch in the non-conference when they were missing like 5 guys. They’ve gotten healthy in conference and have knocked off some teams. Goes down as a bad loss just the same. It’s just how sport works. You can’t just ignore a third of the season.

Relax, pal. They make a cream for that.

4-10 before last night since the first of the year with 3 of the wins vs Ga Tech and Louisville. Doesn't exactly scream improvement.

Do some more research. Lost by three to a hot Syracuse club. Might be the hottest team in the league now. Beat VaTech as well, who just beat UVa. The league is a lot stronger than Google baskethoops says.

Same Syracuse team that lost to Georgia Tech 10 days ago? hottest team in league? give me a break. 2 of the teams they beat was Georgia Tech by 3 and a 8-20 Louisville team. Color me unimpressed.

ACC is getting at most 5 teams in. Last night with Wake and Pitt losing an absolutely devastating night.

Yeah that GaTech team has a way of doing crazy stuff. I should know! They beat Carolina and lost to absolute trash Louisville.

The Big 12 isn’t gaming the NET. Part of why you have some weaker non-conference slates is because you have 4 new teams. All of the newbies scheduled lighter in the non-conference because they knew they’d be facing a major jump in competition this year. In addition to that ESPN canceled the Big 12/SEC challenge which removed several quality games from the schedule. Lastly the Big Ten, ACC, and BE have all recently moved to 11 game non-conference slates as opposed to 13 game slates. That has left fewer opportunities to schedule quality high major competition for other leagues. Next year the Big 12 will move to an 11 game slate as well which will naturally enhance their non-conference SOS metrics as it will give greater weight to teams MTEs and marquee matchups and reduce the amount of buy games on the schedule.

Ultimately though I think this whole “controversy” is a lot to do about nothing. For one it was kicked off from comments from Clemson HC, who last year had the 315th ranked non-conference schedule. So you know, pot meet kettle lol. And two just because your overall non-conference SOS is ranked low doesn’t mean you weren’t tested. Take UConn for example. They played UT, Indiana, UNC, Kansas, and Gonzaga and yet their non-conference slate is ranked 291st because their 6 buy games were super weak. Were they gaming the system?
