RE: Dell McGee new GSU head coach (confirmed)
Strong staff. Will Healy is a clown, that’s why he didn’t succeed.

Hope we'll never again hire a position coach as a head coach, especially if they've never been a head coach before as Frank Wilson wasn't.
Yup. IMO, people vastly overestimate recruiting, especially in a league like this one. No one is going to out-recruit everyone else in the league. You need guys who can build around players they have and teach football. You won't find many people out there that predicted Troy to go to 12 wins after a 5-win season.

Position: Name (notable resume)
HC: Dell McGee (UGA Run Game Coordinator)
OC/TE: Jim Chaney (UGA/UT Offensive Coordinator)
RB: Will Healy (UCF Assistant HC; UNCC Head Coach)
WR: Dameyune Craig (Texas A&M/LSU/Auburn WR Coach)
OL: Manrey Saint-Amour (UGA assistant OL Coach)
QB: Ryan Williams (UGA offensive analyst)
DC/OLB: Kevin Sherrer (GT DC/LB Coach, NFL LB Coach)
DL: Jeremy Hawkins (EKU Defensive Run Game Coordinator)
DB: Jeremiah Wilson (Auburn DB Analyst, Akron DB Coach)
ILB: Juwan Taylor (UGA Assistant Director of Player Development)
ST: Carter Blount (Georgia Tech Recruiting Specialist & Senior Special Teams Analyst)
My analysis: I think this is a balanced mix of old-timers and young coaches.
The likes of McGee, Chaney, Craig, Sherrer are familiar names in the SEC recruiting game. Frankly, their resumes are overqualified to be at the Sun Belt level, and I don't doubt many of them are here as a favor among friends. They'll likely return to SEC roots sooner than later.
Then we have ambitious coaches looking to leave their mark. Will Healy has G5 head coaching experience at Charlotte, and is most likely seeking another opportunity down the road. Jeremy Hawkins comes highly recommended with a solid reputation for connecting with his players and developing All-Conference DLs. Jeremiah Wilson has been a G5 level DB coach before who became an analyst at Auburn to create bigger connection and gain experience. Carter Blount was a senior special teams analyst at Georgia Tech who's now doing the same job but with a bigger title.
Lastly, there are young, unproven names who have been given a chance by McGee. Ryan Williams, Manrey Saint Amour, and Juwan Taylor were assistants working with their respective position groups at UGA. We know very little about them other than McGee saw something he liked during their shared time together under Kirby Smart.
A small correction: Juwan Taylor will not be the ILB coach. He'll take on a support staff position as a defensive assistant, still most likely working with linebackers. This frees up a spot for either John Adams (Cedar Grove HS HC) or Antreal Allen (safety coach under Shawn Elliott) to assume a coaching position on the field.

Bit of OT, but I'd like to point out Shawn Elliott attended exactly 0 GSU Beach VB game during his 7 years here.
Dell McGee makes the time to be on campus, despite the crazy timeline to create his staff, evaluate the current roster, talk with recruits, and etc. It's the small things.

To be fair, even if he hasn't moved yet, he can be in Atlanta a LOT faster than Elliott ever could have.

The crazy part is, Elliott MADE that choice.
