88-66 final.
5 Rockets in double figures, led by Q with 21. The three bigs combined for 35. Barnes added 11.
Hard to imagine that this Akron team essentially beat Ball State.

These are the type of athletic post players that TC needs to sign !!
I wonder if she was even being recruited by the Rocket staff …

The Rogers center was not heavily recruited. She is the type of post player that UT's centers have been eating for lunch this season.

Lester is correct on her recruitment. Prior to last summer, Clark had a single offer as far as I can tell, from Winthrop. Last summer she picked up a few more from Akron, CMU, IUPUI and St. Louis, all teams that are not doing well at all this year. Perhaps she popped in EYBL play last summer, after other teams rosters were already full (like UT's) but it is hard to tell.
Of course, some great college players were not highly recruited, so we won't know until she has played in college for a couple years.

And my post was not meant to be a knock on the Rogers center. I hope she has a good career at Akron. Mostly, I'm frustrated by the fact that some UT fans seem to under-appreciate the effectiveness of our current post players, who have been instrumental in our success these last few years. Each of the three has her limitations, but as a unit they have been huge (in Noveroske's case, literally) for us.

What I was trying to say is that after these current "centers" graduate there appears to be no incoming bigs.

So basically a 6-3 athletic post player (not necessarily
the Rogers girl) that can run the floor would do worse with our great tandem guards (Q. Lockett, S.Wiard) then plodding 6-2 6-5 space eater types who seem to miss a lot of layups and get beat off the dribble on defense !!
OK then !!

We were traveling from Denver listening to Jim Heller’s play-by-play which I pair to ESPN+ broadcasts. The next day I watched portions of the replay despite Reghi’s poor job of trying to call the game.

Well, sure, an athletic 6'3" post player who can run the floor would be great, if she also had some basketball skills. Those players mostly go to top 20 programs. Our post players are a strength of our team, not a weakness. Did you watch our last two games, for instance? Buffalo and Akron could not come close to handling our centers.

I consider the Toledo program to be a borderline top 50 program with unmatched support over all of the MAC and probably most of the big ten !!
Should be no reason TC can’t pull in a very good athletic post player in the 6-2/6-4 range …
Especially with all the undeniable success that she has had in her tenure here !!

Hannah and Nann have mentioned they are probably coming back next season with the covid rule.
Iowa's program is surging ridiculously right now but I agree. We outdraw OSU and Mich every other year.
