RE: Substitutions In The First Half Sunday
Man, I thought he was the one. I really thought he'd figure the game out at this level. But, it's looking like I was wrong. 6 years of let downs is long enough. I was willing to give him 5 years but with the COVID scam we can put that one away so he's essentially had his 5 years and has produced 1 good season and a whole boatload of drama attached to every one of his teams.

It's not that he doesn't get the talent, it's his game plans, his substitutions, his playing favorites to the detriment of the team even as he preaches team over the individual. It's his unwillingness to acknowledge that many of his teams problems originate with his coaching style and the way he wants his teams to play, i.e. AAU ball.

RE: Substitutions In The First Half Sunday
We’re stuck with this as long as Penny wins 20 games a year (should not be too difficult in AAC - although you never know looking at results of last 3 games)) and penny sniffs tournament bid every year. Unless people stop showing up for games or big donors start griping. It will be more difficult to force him out than it was with Finch, although one could argue finch had better results because he played in much tougher league and year in and year out his schedule was harder.

If we are not in the NCAA tournament then the year should be marked as a failure. He's been here long enough that should be the minimum.

It’s not good that’s for sure

At this point it is clear he is not going to stop the insane substitution patters. And I really do not understand. It seems like we used to do a lot more pressing and trapping so I could see the idea of wanting to keep players fresh. But we rarely do that anymore so fatigue should not be a major concern.

I'm with you on this.
Penny's tendency has been to play lots of guys in the 1st half, and then settle into his 7-man rotation in the 2nd half.
Drives me crazy, but I could try to see his perspective when we were pushing the tempo and pressing.
But he's fallen way off the pace on pressing this season.

Absolutely. By year 6 in Memphis basketball, the NCAA tourney invite should be the minimum. Now what happens in the tourney, who knows. In this day and age anything can. But you gotta make the tourney.
