We need to do everything we can to keep Yax. Like y'all said, he's finally not afraid of the bright lights and he was feeding off the Bartow crowd yesterday.
He's a great UAB ambassador as well - I just don't want to lose him to an in-state or regional SEC school.

This is his team next year. He isn’t guaranteed that anywhere else. Hopefully we can do enough to keep him around, because he would be about the biggest basketball loss we’ve ever had.

We need a solid starting 5 man to come play alongside him. Not a career bench guy. I still like Coleman staying in his current role. Shaver may be better off at a low major like UNA or Samford.

I agree they need to sign a 5 capable of being a starter at this level. But also think you might be selling Shaver short. He got hurt last summer and it really set him back. If he is healthy and commits to the JD off-season plan, I think he could be much improved.

I actually thought Shaver was very additive vs Charlotte. Unfortunately, if he hits his three free throw attempts, we likely win that game.

Rewatching the game and I think AK's mic'ed up segment is fascinating. He's really good at breaking down what we're trying to do or about to do. He's pretty active in making calls and giving instruction from the sidelines. It's not always apparent how much goes into it.

Agreed. Coleman coming off the bench is ideal without incredible improvement in the offseason even then we would be undersized. I also wouldn’t mind seeing another guard in the mix for minutes too. Under AK it really doesn’t matter if you start, you’ll get minutes if you are doing your job.

Memphis likely won’t be ranked tomorrow after 3 straight losses. Folks will allow this game to clean the slate for the first half of the season. I say hold AK to the standard he talks about.

Win the two road games and then the Athletic department can pretend they don’t only care about one game a year and try to fill up the arena vs FAU.

Also, I could just quit all the recruiting stuff and you all can go back to b!tching about what lack of coverage you all get about it. But no, you have a group of fans that work together to keep up with it and you got a problem with it? You can f*ck off. There’s folks getting paid that put less than half the effort I do to keep up with it. Some making money from your NIL contributions or patreon, but me, not a damn dime. I do it for fun.

I think you are spot on with this.

this was a great win and a great moment to see the house mostly packed again and energetic.

It is not some sort of watershed moment for this team, coach, or program. AK and UAB should be held to a higher standard than "suck ass for a quarter of the season, have people buy back in during a nice streak, then blow a 20 point lead with a sh!t ton on the line.. and hey it's all ok bc we beat a team at home that may be the sloppiest in the entire country without a real coach."

It was a nice win. It showed what this team can be. It showed what we HAVEN'T been the rest of the year largely, as well.

This is just another notch in the belt of the "Bartow Standard," not a watershed moment of absolution for AK that someone will make it out to be.

Go win two tough AF games on the road this week. They're both winnable. Do that, and that would impress the F out of me. Winning two this week on the road would be significantly more impressive than beating an imploding Memphis team at home.

Again, not taking anything away from the win, but let's set our standards higher please.

No, but it was nice to seize the moment for once when we're on a big stage instead of blowing it. Got a nice win on ESPN vs a ranked team with a mostly full house. Not a watershed moment for a program with a lot of history, but hopefully it provides a needed spark to start bringing more people (students & the general public) back to Bartow. This was the 1st time the current students experienced a game like this.

We also had several class of 2026 high school recruits at the game. Hopefully they were impressed.

-Colben Landrew, Thompson
-Ladarius Given, JAG
-Clyde Walters, Pinson Valley
-Jayden Williams, Ramsay (class of 2025)
-Jackson Gulley, Fairhope

it is kind of funny when the states champion 7a hoover with 5 sophomore starter , dont even look at us ..they are all junior this year and none of them looking at UAB

It's not funny at all. UAB's NIL is a joke. The kids are going to play where the money is. Softball players signing at Hoover are getting more NIL money than UAB offers.

HCAK is one helluva Coach. I hope he is content staying at UAB. We are lucky to have a coach like him.

What a great win for the program last night!

Memphis has always been the team to beat. Thankful, they are back on the schedule!

Marked difference between AK and Penny as well. As often as we get on Andy over his coaching, the difference was stark. Memphis fans were losing their minds over it. Well, and everything else.

RE: Memphis (2024 Bartow Classic)
We had the 4th highest attendance that Memphis played at this season. Top 3 were all SEC teams with much larger arenas.
Just a reminder of how rocking Bartow can be with over 8k in the building.

Missouri - 15k (I assume Memphis travelled well)
Ole Miss - 9.4k (again assume Memphis traveled well)
Texas A&M - 9.5k

I just hope they advertise the FAU game with similar urgency. They will most likely still be ranked when they come to Bartow.

Bartow was rocking with 6k-ish. It would be great to see a game get 8000 butts in the seat again.

Not sure if I wasn’t looking close enough and missed them, but did anyone see the Football staff and players at the game?

While Zeno doesn’t have the same personality as Joe Webb, I was hoping some football players would try to hype up the student section.

Dilfer was there, but mostly busy on his phone for most of the game.

Some of the players, including Zeno were in the main atrium signing autographs and taking pics.

A lot of the players were in the upper section of the student section. Cole Peterson (DFO) had a courtside seat.

Yeah, I was at the game, that official number means nothing to me. It was still a great atmosphere, but we didn’t have 7k there, let alone 8.

You are correct. The building was actually 70-80% full at the very most, no ~95% full as the official attendance states. We did not have 8100 people there.

Still a great crowd and a great atmosphere. The best I’ve seen at bartow in years.
