The Keshon Artis era ended before it started.

If one of those younger DT and DE each makes a jump, as one might, my goodness those rotations.

RE: Spring 2024 Football Roster Is Up
Great list - thanks for putting in the time.

I am also surprised at the 2 who are still here, didn't we celebrate Tewes on senior night? I assumed he was gone after that, but maybe he wanted to celebrations.

Looking at the list who is leaving, honestly...a lot of those guys I didn't know existed and I follow Huskie football as much as anyone.

Finally admitting the Huskie position was stupid and we actually just run a nickel back. We had a damn linebacker acting like a nickel 2 seasons ago...we admitted that was dumb last season but refused to drop the name...and now we are being normal and calling it what it is. It's almost like someone on the board was saying 2 years ago...oh that someone was me.

Looking at all the LBs Gassaway up to 225! He was listed at 205 last season. Nice. I think that his size was keeping him off the field a bit last season. Expect him in the rotation now.

You can't help yourself. That linebacker can't "act like a nickel." It's the same job with different body types. The only LB sized player they ever played there was Dolphin and he at least played Safety in high school.

"“When you talk to players, you can say, ‘Look, these linebackers on the team are all going to play money. These DBs on the team are going to learn how to play money,’” Saban said. "Because when it comes to the assignments of the defense, the position is the same." --Nick Saban

Gumbs to Florida?!?? Wow. From dropping 4th down passes against Tulsa in 2022 to the SEC. God bless him.

I think you are missing what I am saying, you're still missing it after all these years, I am really trying with you.

THE ISSUE IS THEY WERE THE SAME THING. We did not have backers who could handle the position. We did not have broken down safeties who could handle the position. We are not Bama, our backers CANNOT act like a nickel.

I have said this exact same thing to you for YEARS, and you don't seem to understand. We are not Bama. Our guys at backer do not run like that. Safeties who were injured and moved to backer do not run like that. This is not the same thing. They have to be corners or very good coverage safeties (which we don't have a ton of.)

The fact you can't admit you were wrong is nuts - but you were.

One thing I noticed, it's going to be weird not seeing #12 throw the football for NIU, with WR Kenji Lewis now wearing 12 on offense

What true SAM linebackers outside of Dolphin who was playing at 215 have we played there? A SAM can't "act like a nickel" because they play the same position. NIU has played one LB as the "Huskie." The "Nickel" by definition of responsibility is a "hybrid" position. This ain't 1980s football where they just bring in the 3rd corner and say nickel because there are 5 DBs on the field. NIU has been using a "hybrid" player since the late 90s early 2000s when 225lb Jermaine Hampton was playing there or sometimes 5'7" Benji Peacock was there. Or Safeties that were moved to LB like Jon Pendergrass or Rocky Newton were playing there.

You wrongly believe that jargon like 4-2-5 which you talk about for example is a "scheme" when it's personnel. Scheme? We're a 40 front
over defense. A one gap defense with mostly zone concepts behind. And because we play quite a bit of zone we tend to use better run support players in the hybrid spot. That they stopped calling it a "Huskie" is immaterial.

That’s a lot of talk to admit you were wrong…or I mean attempt to not admit you were wrong.

The facts, my crazy old friend, were we ask the huskies, whomever they were, to act as a nickel corner. This past season we asked a corner to do so. It went better.

You are trying to deflect, you are trying to over explain, you ARE wrong and we aren’t going to engage in any ******* body claiming the SAM backer was the Nickel. That didn’t happen. You’re crazy, deflecting, and wrong. Suck it up. Move on. Watch tape.

As soon as you started in with Dolphin I knew we were looking at the Chewbacca defense...you are literally Johnnie Cochran from south park. You are so afraid to admit that we have a nickel out there that you started talking crazy.

This is you...literally:

"I have one final thing I want you to consider. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!"

The Saban quote has nothing to do with the talent, it's literally about coaching a nickel scheme. It just happens to be the Alabama coach making the point.

"Nickel" is not a scheme. Its a personnel grouping. What Saban's saying is that defensive backs on the team are going to learn how to play the "Star" or SAM Linebacker. Same job responsibilities, different body types.

Think his point was about the star spot. Their rover/monster/huskie/a million other names.
