RE: Quinyon Mitchell 2024 NFL draft
CBS Sports has listed Quinyon Mitchell at the 5th player taken overall. Tried to copy and paste it without success. Shows #1 Marvin Harrison (OSU) #2 Caleb Williams (USC) #3 Malik Nabors (LSU), #4 Olu Fashanu (Penn St) #5 Mitchell #6 Jayden Daniels (LSU) #7 Brock Bowers (Georgia) #8 Drake Maye (NC) #9 Dallas Turner (Ala) #10 Amarious Mims (Georgia)

As Mel Allen used to say "How about that.."

Edit - I went out to copy a link to that listing, and I found a CBS Sports listing that shows him at #9, with everyone else mentioned above moving up a slot, then Joe Alt from Notre Dame taking the 8th spot and Mitchell behind him. Different day, different ranking...

Who the heck is the reporter calling the MAC the "M..A..C." You cover football, even if only the NFL, and you don't know that it is the MAC - one word?

Reported that Mitchell had official "Top 30" visits to Atlanta and Minnesota.

Mitchell officially one of the players invited to attend the draft, which is one more indication he is expected to go in the 1st round.

RE: Quinyon Mitchell 2024 NFL draft
With the draft just a few days away, Mel Kiper has Mitchell going to the Broncos at 12.

Funny thing tho, after all the rush for everyone to move him up their draft boards (a few recently had him going at 8 to Atlanta) it seems now many are dropping him down, to Philly or even lower. The "small school" bias is clearly a part of that. I mean, regardless, going anywhere in the 1st round will be life changing for him, but still ... pay the man.

I think any potential drop in draft boards is the rise of so many QB’s now projected in the first round, as many as 6 now.

yes, its a pretty common outcome of any NFL draft, teams overrating QB prospects and picking them higher in 1st rd than expected, including teams trading up to get one. It has ripple effect down the draft. Plus mock drafts and projections of where players are selected are often just guesses and very common for players to drop because those projections were wrong to begin with, and often has noting to do with how scouts and teams evaluate that player. I never felt it was realistic for him to go high in draft (top 10) but more likely somewhere 11-15 or even 11-20 which is still a fantastic outcome for him and the Rockets football program as would be only 2nd player ever drafted in 1st round.

Except nah, folks are dropping him down the CB list too, with Arnold going ahead of him, and now some folks have Cooper Dejean also going ahead of him, although nobody has seen him work out in public since he got cleared as I understand it. Just disappointing to see, that's all.

RE: Quinyon Mitchell 2024 NFL draft
I've yet to see anyone of note drop Mitchell down their board or down the CB list. He's 1, 1a or 2 in most. Fourth is the lowest I've seen and still a first round pick. I ignore all the noise posted for page hits and the weekend warriors who have no idea what the hell they're talking about. He was invited to the draft for good reason. He's a day one pick and I'd be very surprised to see him fall below 20-ish. His combine testing put him in historic and elite company and hes committed sufficient play on film and at the Senior Bowl.

Great article on ESPN.com about Mitchell. He says great things about Toledo. Someone smarter than me should link it.

RE: Quinyon Mitchell 2024 NFL draft
I saw if the picks get to the Broncos they have another Bama player or 2 in the DB room so they could go that way to keep chemistry high. Other than that and for some reason thinking a MAC player can't contend after all he did this Spring... Q is the best Corner as of April 2024.

He also did a great interview on SXM yesterday with Rick Neuheisel on channel 84 College Sports Radio in the 9-12 time slot. I believe it's available for replay on SXM app.
