Kent State @ Central Michigan
The Golden Flashes return to Michigan this weekend for a matchup with the Chippewas in Mount Pleasant. CMU is coming off a 15 point win over Eastern. Big game for both teams.
Go Flashes!

It continues to amaze me how common injuries are now in sports. Sure, there have always been injuries, but it seems to me that they are triple, at least, the number of injuries that there were long ago. In all my years playing basketball in the late 1950s and early 1960s I can't recall a single teammate missing a game due to injuries. A few missed a game her and there for the flu.

It’s ruining basketball, football, baseball and hockey especially at the pro level. Some of it is the regular season has become meaningless so why risk anything until the playoffs. Also in pro sports the season have become very long. Compare the late 50’s to today.
NFL - 12+1 playoff. Now 17+1 to 4 playoffs
NHL - 70 + 14. Now 82 + 28
NBA - 68 + 14/19. 82 +28
MLB - 154 + 7. 162 + 22
An average of around 30% more.
By the way what was it like climbing the ladder and getting the ball out of the peach basket. That had to be one of the dumbest things humans ever did.

I haven't mentioned it, but I've been thinking it this year. We lost a couple heavy hitters last year.
Rebuilding season.
Whatever that means now days.

Of course we lost 2 great players from last year. Hardly anyone expected us to win the league this year. With that said, this years team was good enough to challenge (maybe finish 2nd or 3rd). This season has been hijacked by injuries…We started a freakin’ walk on today for Pete’s sake. With what’s happened to our roster, these losses are to be expected. Plain and simple.
And for anyone out there that wants to spew the “fire the coach” garbage…get a grip on reality. Our Coach won the MAC Championship last year!
We have been very fortunate most years not to have a lot of injuries. This year we got ‘em. Nothing anyone can do about it…

Sorry to say ... every starter today is on scholarship. Bekelja (Carry's half brother) has been on scholarship for two years since transferring from Duquesne.
FWIW ... he also started a few games at Duquesne.

My mistake. He plays so little that I forgot he was on scholarship. That correction included, I stand by my comments above.

Yeah, the NFL went to 14 games in 1958, and as late as 1965 there was only 1 playoff game. Longer seasons, of course, means more injuries. But I think there are even more reasons, but all of them would be just speculation on my part.

Yeah, many years we were fortunate. I'm trying to think - did the 2002/02 team have any key players lose any games to injuries? I can't think of any.

We also have a young roster this year. Not sure what that means for the future with transfers and all.

What's the Moss injury? Hopefully not an ACL that could put the start of next season in jeopardy. Also, I assume you didn't mean both Moss and Rollins are done for the year? Just Moss?

RE: Kent State @ Central Michigan
A couple thoughts/comments.
1. There's no MAC team that could stand losing 4 rotation players.
2. I'm not sure why Freeman isn't playing more. Deep in the dog house or does he have some sort of injury going on too? 3 minutes when we're down as deep as we are today seems odd.
3. I understand pulling Hunter's redshirt if he's jumping ahead if Entenmann in the rotation and becoming a 15+ mpg guy, but it doesn't really make sense with his usage today. I assume this was just kinda getting his feet wet and we'll see his role expand. Quickly trending towards a lost season might as well develop a young big.
4. I don't really understand why people seem so defensive of Sendy on here. I mean I agree it would be dumb to suggest firing him... But... Like... Who is suggesting that? I haven't seen anyone blaming him or suggesting it's time to fire him. It feels like you're arguing with ghosts.

It seems some folks want to nit-pick Sendy when they can ... he is truly not the problem. Moss is probably an ACL. Rollins has multiple injuries, but might get back. Freeman (check his track record at FAU) is just a tease, a rec-league all-star.
Entenmann and Hunter should get minutes, just to see if they fit for the future. ... Not sure Hunter is ready for any of this???

Muskrat. Totally agree with your comments from
Yesteryear about injuries. Just a thought…. Kids today don’t seem
to eat as healthy as when we were adolescents.
Lots of fast food and junk. When was the last time you saw a teenager
Drink a large glass of milk for example. I think
the fast food and junk contribute during the formative years to injuries at college level. As I said… just thinking out loud.

Only way Sendy leaves is by his choice. He could eventually get frustrated with NIL situation but none of the current situation is on him.
Besides Kent would NEVER fire a coach with 4 years remaining on contract.
Sendy is winningest coach ever at Kent and approaching EVER in MAC .
He should be calling the shots on his status . Any talk is Ridiculous or Fake News!
