Chicago State at Stetson
Best thing about this game is the location. I’d expect a good road crowd for Chicago State since this is a rare chance for guys friends and family to see these guys in person.

It’s easy to forget these are 18-22 year olds who went quite far from home for a chance to play college basketball and their families can’t watch them without great expense now. Because of that, I expect Chicago State players to be really geared up to play well. They want to get a win for all of their fans in this rare chance.

Stetson is 197 in the NET and 10-7. They are 6-0 at home. But the best part of this matchup is that Chicago State already beat Stetson earlier this season by 23 points in very dominating fashion.

If Wesley Cardet is back on court, that would give Chicago its best chance obviously. But they also just won without him on the road, so all is not lost if he can’t play.

Strong finish to the first half. Neal has 5 assists and 0 turnovers. Defense has not been outstanding, but only three turnovers. Need to start strong 2nd half.

Stetson came in undefeated at home, 11-7overall, second in the ASUN and over 100 spots higher in the NET than the Cougars. But it wasn’t enough to stop Wes Cardet Jr, Jahsean Corbett, and company.

It was a great game. Chicago State beats Stetson for a second time this season. This time on the road 77-70.

The contingent supporting the Cougars was large and vocal. 10 of the 14 Cougars are from Florida and this is Chicago States only game in the state

A large number of Cougars are graduates of West Oaks Academy in Florida, and the entire team from West Oaks was in attendance to support the Academy’s alums.

What a game. The Cougars could’ve easily given up after trailing 4-5 in the 2H, fouls mounting up, and a very limited bench. But they buckled down and ended up with a great road win at Stetson. Awesome job by Cardet Jr. and Corbett again.

Some key stats from the Stetson game

Wesley Cardet played 37 minutes and had no fouls and just 1 turnover. Wow.
He had 29 points, shot 7/11 from the floor, 15/17 from the line, 7 rebounds, 1 block

Jahsean Corbett played 38 minutes, 2 fouls, 1 turnover
25 points, 10/15 from the floor, 5/7 from the line, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal

Stetson outshot the Cougars on 2’s and 3’s.

But the Cougars got to the line 30 times, only had 7 turnovers and held a slight rebounding edge.
