RE: Larry is "fed up"...
It isn't just a Kzoo issue, but it IS a big problem here. There are nonprofits and organizations that are doing the best they can to help these people, but there's only so much they can do. And the police oftentimes have no solutions. They can make someone leave a property, but where will that person go? They'll just go down the road and trespass somewhere else. Can't just throw them all in jail.
The unhoused problem has been growing for decades and the problem will keep getting worse as wages continue to stagnate, cost of living goes up, housing inventory is strained and prices go up, antiquated zoning laws and other regulations expressly prohibit or make unfeasible dense urban housing (detached single family zoning, minimum parking requirements, no public transportation, etc...contributing to urban sprawl, fewer housing units, and increased cost of living), dangerous drug use continues to rise, convicted criminals are not reintegrated into society, lack of mental health services and a for-profit healthcare system, and much much more. Need some MAJOR changes if we want to curb the skyrocketing unhoused population.

^ What he said.
No doubt Trump and MAGAts have the answers, as he has espoused.

I cannot disagree but Kalamazoo needs to make this a major priority. When you have homeless drifting off from downtown and into student neighborhoods, there is a major problem. My son believes the old Hallmark Living Nursing Home behind the Marathon on W Michigan Avenue is now taken over by the homeless. Here is a link: https://wwmt.com/news/local/state-violat...d-services
It's interesting to see what Columbus, Ohio is doing to combat the crisis: https://caufsociety.com/cities-solving-homelessness/

Kalamazoo is a proud Sanctuary City. Get used to it. It's only going to get worse.

No, it's more about those who want to make rules for others & then don't follow their own rules.

I'll stop if Trump will.
Today he said he hopes Economy crashes this year because he doesn't want to be Herbert Hoover.
He doesn't care about how that would affect Americans of mid- to lower economic strata, only him, family, and his ultra-rich buddies (including foreign).
But then that's not news.

That's not exactly what he said. Watch the video. He said When the economy crashes, he hopes it's within the next 12 months.
When the hurricane hits, vs I want a hurricane to hit. Definitely a nuance there.

The mental gymnastics it takes for the Trump cult to excuse and explain him is truly astounding.

While I have compassion for the homeless in Kalamazoo, I second guess leaving my downtown hotel after witnessing the homeless lined up around the corner. They really need to find a solution to the problem.
