Chicago State at Fairleigh Dickinson
January 10 Teaneck, NJ 6:00 PM

The Cougars head to New Jersey for their 7th straight road game.

It’s an important game for the Cougars because they are looking to snap a 6 game losing streak. Not only is FDU a team that is below the Cougars in the NET, they are also a future NEC opponent beginning in the Fall.

This will be the first meeting between the Cougars and the Knights. FDU comes in at 6-10 and have a 5 game losing streak of their own, including their first 2 NEC games. 3 losses have been to new D1 teams LeMoyne, Queens, and Merrimack.

FDU’s D1 are mostly over 300 NET. Buffalo 341, NJ Tech 331, Manhattan 326, along with a win versus a decent St Peter’s team very early in the season.

This is a good opportunity for Chicago State to get another win before heading to Florida for a rematch with Stetson, who the Cougars beat at home earlier this season by over 20.

Where are the shooters? The only players we have who shoot over 30% from the arc are Cardet and Crawford. The good news is that our opponents have been pretty bad, too.

A road win without the guy who is hands down your best player is a great thing. Add in that it’s a conference opponent next year, factor in a very, very short bench, that it broke a 6 game losing streak, and it’s almost enough for me to forget they gave up a 15 point lead in the final 5:30 and almost lost it. Almost.

I’m hoping Cardet comes back soon and that his injury is not serious.

Box score here. Unfortunately, I was not able to watch this game.
