Similar path to Cubit. Let go from WMU, then next college stop is OC in the B1G.

Iowa fans are freaking out that they hired Lester over Johns, or that they didn't so something crazy like signing an OC from a bigger school. I don't get it.

Given what they have to work with, getting anything better than a rutabaga is a major win, much less a football nerd who likes to run the ball, use TEs, and hog possession time.

People are probably just pulling Offense stats from his final WMU year, which was horrifically bad, but not looking at the previous years.

RE: Lester going back to CFB?
Iowa was 10-3 last season with a historically bad offense (partially because of losing McNamara and Alt to injuries).

B1G Ten is going to be a lot tougher next fall (haven't looked at Hawkeyes' schedule).

I hope Lester has success there (he's an All-Time Bronco regardless of his coaching tenure).

But if Iowa doesn't improve offensively Lester and Ferentz both might be out.

Good for Tim, Iowa is a great program that really really needed a revamped offense. I wouldn't mind seeing them at the top of the B1g for the next several years.

His base salary starts at $1.1 million per year and will increase to $1.3 million in February 2025.

"Played" is rather lose description.

Matt was on the team as a walk-on WR for I think two years.

Then transferred to Saginaw Valley where he was a standout at his HS position of QB.

Pretty sure Lafleur was on Darnell’s 1998 and 1999 teams. The 1999 team is the one that went to the MACCG at Marshall. Matt was a WR but may have seen time on special teams. Tore it up at Sag Valley though!

Iowa was able to keep its DC. Phil Parker. If Tim Lester can turn the offense around. Iowa could make it to the playoffs.
