The Golden Flashes will take the turnpike to 75, drive through Ann Arbor and settle in Ypsilanti where they will meet the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Tip off from the Gervin Game Above Center is scheduled for 3:30PM.

EMU is 7-6 on the season and 5-1 at home. Stan Heath's Eagles opened MAC play with a two point overtime loss at Bowling Green. In that game, Eastern led by 8 at the break and got a 31 point performance from 6'4 junior Tyson Acuff.

Like most MAC teams, the Eagles have played a few Horizon League opponents. They have wins over Cleveland State and Detroit to go along with a loss to Oakland.

In addition to Acuff (the leading scorer), Eastern gets good production from 6'2 sophomore Orlando Lovejoy, 6'8 junior Yusuf Jihad and 6'6 freshman Arne Osojnik. All three average more than 8 points per game.

The Golden Flashes have had pretty good luck at EMU over the years. Lets hope that continues on Saturday. I think it will.

Also - tonight at 9:00PM on CBS Sports Network the BGSU Falcons travel to James A. Rhodes Arena to take on the Zips. Should be a nice early season barometer.

There seem to be some solid teams in the MAC this year. Miami is an interesting squad.

Two players/things I’m interested in seeing today…Can Freeman continue to score and have impact with an all around game (rebounds, blocks, etc.)? Can Entenmann continue to develop and provide solid minutes rebounding and scoring inside? He looked pretty good in his 1st significant minutes against BSU. I’ll be watching. Let’s go fellas!

It has been a hard listen.

Kent State was up 6 with 3 mins left and I went to get a pizza I come back it is OT and they have 3 pts in OT but still a chance to win.

Well hopefully this embarrassment will finally get Sendy to realize you cannot keep Gio and Sully on the court together for long stretches and expect to win. Moss was no where to be seen for at least the last 5 minutes and OT.

Really poor job of handling pressure defense and pressure situations tonight. Ball handlers couldn't handle being pressed. Missing the front end of one and ones twice in OT. Payton didn't make a shot all night that wasn't a dunk and missed two nice looks right at the end. All around bad game.

An absolute embarrassment! Jalen is a good scorer but he is so lackadaisical with the ball at times (passing it and not reading the double team). His turnovers were a big part of this loss.

I think being down the two bigs really hurt today. Some guys seemed very tired 2nd half with extra minutes.

2 missed FTs (1&1 = 4 pts)
3 missed layups = 6 pts

Out-rebounded them for the game, made more 3s, but TOs the killer. Payton only starter in double figs, but Moss showing signs of coming around. Rollins gives what he's got w/that bum hand.

Freeman??? Gio had the assists, but still can't find his shot. Sully???

Didn't see the end of regulation ... how did Eastern get the 3. That kid is a lethal 3-point shooter and Kent had to know that.

This is not just a Kent issue ... but a growing sports issue especially on the college level.

NO RESPONSIBLE MEDIA.

There is no news re: the injuries or updates on potential return ... no news/update on Miami transfer ... no news/update on Bass??? ... no interview w/Sendy to explain how he plans to navigate the early MAC season with these issues.

As I read other boards including MAC, Horizon, A-10 and even some P5, this is a growing problem all over. Combined w/how pro sports 'manage' their media, it seems the bookies and gamblers know more about what's going on in any given program as opposed to the die-hard fans.
