If you go by the phony baloney attendance figures ODU puts out all games are pretty well attended. But if you go by rear ends actually in seats then only the Wake game had a representative crowd.

Well attended or not can at least be debated.

What games were half full tho?

LA, Wake and App were definitely more than half full. TXAMCC wasn’t and CCU and GSU are debatable.

Cosign this. The attendance (butts in seats) this year was atrocious. Don't know how you would even try to defend it.

Yes. All of the games were awful. The App State game was maybe the closest we got. The marquee Wake game was an embarrassment. We have nothing to brag about when it comes to good fan support. Hate saying that but its the facts.

It's just like politics today. Unless you have photos of the stands at the end of the first quarter, the ODU attendance figure become the "fact". Everything else becomes anecdotal.

Butts in the seats can still be an issue without claiming the stands were 50% full.

Imagine if our stands actually had butts physically in the seats every week. Our sales in all areas would go up tremendously. And I am not talking about tickets that are "sold" that are vacant when it comes to game time.

Winning would increase revenue big time. Everything from tickets to t-shirts

I dont disagree with that. However, this school doesnt believe in the concept of spending money to make money. They want to watch every little penny they spend.

They are in the top 12 in revenue, they muat be doing something right from a financial perspective.

Yet their top 2 sports stink in every possible way and have no clue how to win. Also have lots of empty seats. One would think top revenue would equal winning results. Clearly that isnt the case here.

And everything else wrong to have that monetary advantage and not have a winning season for years in football and absolutely stink in basketball.

We are working on an episode that will dive deeper on the finances of ODAF. We think it’ll illuminate a lot of what we’re facing and possibilities for the future.

I think it's a very good sign when so many posters on here have a thirst for information about so many aspects of the athletic dept.

With the help of some "insiders" and other knowledgeable fans, I feel like I've learned a ton about the workings of the dept.and look forward to learning more.

Lets not start a pity party for ODAF. We have had financial/donor advantages in the CAA, CUSA, and Sunbelt. We have no excuse to have mediocre to crap products in our 2 major sports. We can brag about breaking revenues and donation records every year. But at the end of the day, the results have stunk for us. And our advantages just didnt happen yesterday. We have had them for years now amongst our conference peers.

Maybe, we could ask Wood where the high revenue is spent.

And we still must remember not to confuse revenue with profit.

Sportico has a pretty good database on FBS schools.

Few people can be trusted less than Division I athletics accountants.

High price tag for them too. However, they are getting good results with their products.
