Lutz and Kosmalski both look like excellent candidates from your descriptions.

Men’s game Saturday is at UST. Horrible circumstances force us to a horrible facility. HCU is hosting a DH, UH has a day game, the Rockets have Friday and Saturday night games. And with the National Championship game Monday, the NRG complex is out.

I don’t know if they looked at any of the high school facilities, but I feel badly for all involved.

I’m hoping Tudor is ready by the Charlotte women’s game.

Not sure why they don’t just play games in Fox. It’s not like 1000s would be unable to get in. I actually enjoyed the VB matches in played there during the Tudor renovation. Up close and personal athletic event.

Wonder if they are still doing the Michigan pep rally at Tudor on Sunday.

If they have to replace part of the wood flooring which seems to be the case, the varnish and sealant take some days to dry and to get the smell out of the gym. Hopefully all is being done to avoid days lost to our team and let Michigan have their pep rally somewhere else. On a lighter note, I have always liked Pera as a person and the players seem to like him, but he has pretty much proven with his best team on paper, we are going backwards. Even now as Rome is burning ( and this really bugs me more and more) he continues to tweet new and obscure facts about James Harden who certainly is a friend but has certainly left destruction and unhappy teammates in his wake. Not a role model for our Rice athletes. As many have already mentioned smaller schools than Rice with less money can quickly turn around and get to the NCAA tournament at least more often than every 53 or 54 years. We seem farther away than ever. In October I foolishly thought we might until we played Harvard. They went 66 years without going until 2012 but now 4 times. We can’t break their record. Tommy put on your thinking cap.

My understanding is that, during the break, there were repairs being done on the big scoreboard, part of which must be accessed via the roof. Apparently, some hatch was accidentally left open, and when it rained thereafter ....

Just cancel the season before something else happens. We're 6-8, tied for last place with UTSA, and the court is ruined because an idiot left a latch open. Next thing you know, the roof caves in. What a disaster on so many levels. Put this season out of it misery. End it.

Let Tudor float away in the sunset and build a new arena. The Opera House would have been ideal for some good old operas and basketball and volleyball.

There is no doubt that the AAC is a much tougher, multiple bid league and this level of competition is going to be tough for the Owls until they can recruit at a higher level at multiple positions. I had no illusion that the Owls would be competitive in their first year in the league. I perused the various preseason publications and Rice was ranked in the bottom 3 (as far as I remember) in all of them.

As far as Coach Pera’s continued attention\support of James Harden, I appreciate that he is loyal to a former player. That is an important positive trait for a coach. Note Tom Izzo’s continued allegiance with Draymond Green….and Tom Osborne continued to help, support and visit the late Lawrence Phillips, even when he was in jail.

Yup, they did. It was packed. Floor looks fine. New scoreboard looks nice.

We need a full crowd Thursday vs Charlotte.

Wonder if there was still a hole in the floor under the Michigan tarp? Let’s hope not.

The tarp was flat - no hole.
They may just need to paint and put a clear-coat on.

Or they put some temporary plywood down. After 50 years of supporting Rice Athletics, never underestimate their ability to go cheap.

I hope you are correct, but we’ve all seen too many examples of taking the cheap route.

Great job by the facilities team, the contractors, and Tanner to get this straightened out quickly.
