Here's to 2024 being a great one for the Sun Belt!
What were your favorite memories of 2023? I'm making this Sun Belt sports related to keep it as a relevant thread but if you want to throw in a few personal milestones I won't tell anyone! 03-shhhh
Actually I hated 2023 because I lost four people who were very close to me in this game we play called Life in a span of five months so emotionally I became a nervous wreck. Thirty pounds gained and multiple hangovers endured later, I've emerged from a cave of depression to function somewhat productively again. 07-coffee3
This board has become my home away from home and I feel a strange bond with the posters who frequent it. Maybe it's because we have the coolest conference 05-stirthepot and a collection of competitive programs with loyal fans; but I find myself scrolling through page after page absorbing the hot takes of the day.

2023 as a Coastal alum and sports enthusiast found me ecstatic our baseball won the regular season with a chance to host another regional. Unfortunately, we had an epic meltdown against 4 seed Rider which prevented us from defeating Duke twice and advancing. This year also saw longtime coach Cliff Ellis announce he's retiring which is bittersweet because I've loved Cliff since I attended his basketball camps at Clemson when I was a kid to his wearing of the teal proudly and ushering in the era behind our HTC Center's construction on campus.
The Tim Beck era kicked off and wobbled to a very shaky start with some bad losses (Georgia teams, James Madison, and Army). I feel like we had key wins (App. State, Texas State, etc.), though, and the bowl victory over a San Jose State team that seemed like a lock to dominate us in Hawai'i builds tremendous momentum heading into next season...

Okay, I'll pass the mic to someone else now. Be safe, everyone. We've made it through another 365...04-bow

Happy New Year. 2023 was the same in Baseball...bad but still the greatest game ever invented. Some hope for men's BB and maybe even the women. Finally a pulse for football. Beating Louisiana especially was a fun day. The TxSt beat down was great. Of course I would have been satisfied with just a win. If our QB and receivers could just have played pitch and catch we would have had 3 more TDs and a bowl win. Still double the wins. If we can add 3 more and a bowl win this year...something to look forward to.

I'll echo the sentiments at the start...there was that much publicized loss of my brother the weekend before the USA game that made me have to cancel my trip....I've handled it rather well, but to see the messages from these folks who have no idea who I am from Adam was a good feeling..Also, whenever one of our schools goes through a tragedy, everyone pulls together with words of support...

Favorite 2023 memories:

1. Cure Bowl victory
2. Winning Men's Cross County SBC Championship
3. Beating a ranked UNC in Wrestling and then being ranked
4. Winning the MAC regular seasons championship in Field Hockey
