While it sucks to see surprise onside kicks go, I do like the spirit of making kickoffs live ball plays again. Now, the only thing that should be instituted is the UFL's "4th and 12" onside kick rule in the 4th quarter. Would like to see that across all levels of the game personally. And with Zeno's arm, Dilfer would've benefited quite a bit from that last year.
I just wish one major coach would have the balls to play like that one high school coach does and say "Every kick is a turnover" and just never punt, always go for two, and attempt the onside kick after every score. But the rules need to be such that onside kicks have a reasonable chance to be recovered by the kicking team. They were pretty much legislated out of the NFL anyway with all the advantaged they gave to the receiving team.
