Final Non-Conference Game vs. NAVY
Navy is terrible. We don’t look like we even care today.

Final Non-Conference Game vs. NAVY
One of these 2 teams has to look better in the 2nd half. Please, for the sake of my eyeballs.

The stats and scoreboard say a really even contest. However, there is so little energy being expounded, by either team, to make you not want to nod off.

We do need to clean up the TO's and find the range from 3.

Moss is having a rough game. He needs to stop making the game harder than it is.

Benini needs to get a couple fouls called on him for flopping. That guy spends half the time on his back "drawing" fouls.

Tribe with only one bucket in the last 4 minutes. Taking some tough shots.

Begnini IS a "flopper".

Final Non-Conference Game vs. NAVY
I like the principle behind how the offense we play works, but for whatever reason, we cannot consistently run it or get looks out of it. It's designed to be free flowing and allow guys to create. What we get is guys uncomfortable with the ball, jacked up 3's outside of the offense, or give the ball to Chase and go one on one. We are about to enter into conference play now. Guys should have a pretty good grasp on running this offense, but instead it appears we've regressed. Have the players checked out on it? Can the coaches not teach it? The lack of fundamentals is glaring.
This is the last bad team we are going to face this year and we are teetering on getting blown out

OK. It's effective and it should have been in the scouting report. Instead, we overpenetrate right into him.

Sean's not missing a shot by that much without contact. We're getting killed by the refs.

This is unwatchable. This is the worst our offense can look, and I have a lot of complaints about our matchups on defense also. It feels like we didn't scout Navy at all the way we're chasing players around the court.

I work with my son's 8th grade team on boxing out every single practice. I scream at them and sit them in games when they don't seek out there man and put a body on them.
It is literally a every possession thing where at least one guy loses their man.

Gabe Dorsey has been great today, and we have not figured out how to run a play to get him open. He's running off screens, but not in a way that gets him a clean look. We're down 10 with 2 minutes to play and Gabe isn't in until Navy commits a turnover. This is on the team, but the coaching has been awful as well.

I'm seriously considering not renewing Flo for the CAA basketball season. Comments like the above (totally true, I'm sure) make it even harder to spend the money. I guess I'll wait to see if the Women's team looks good enough this year to justify the expense. Then I'll also watch the men just to get my money's worth.

Final Non-Conference Game vs. NAVY
I know it will likely happen, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how this team gets any wins in CAA play. I'm hoping it's primarily due to attrition and rust, but the lack of firepower, fundamentals, and interest is discouraging.
I'm sure Dane will give them a good that'a boy talk about competing while under-manned, but it's getting old

Add another bad team -- William & Mary -- to that list of bad teams that Navy has beaten.

We'll play at home half the time, so we're bound to get a couple of those. Houpt definitely didn't have his shot back today, but this was flat out embarrassing. It's a signature game in the Dane Fischer era in that we lost badly to a terrible team on the road.

If we had Case and Houpt back though, I don't know why Hicks got minutes tonight. I know Charlie and Gabe were in foul trouble in the first half, but at some point you have to put your best team on the floor and ask them to win the game. All we did tonight was dribble into double teams and make wild passes. Is it that the offense needs Charlie at the top of the key to make passes or we look like this?

Tribe will now head into conference play with 3 D1 wins.

As WMintheBurg said, embarrassing today, but also embarrassing overall non conference portion of the year. From the scheduling, to the results. Hoping for some growth and change through the conference portion of the season.

RE: Final Non-Conference Game vs. NAVY
Gabe Dorsey and Miles Hicks went 4 for 5 from 3. The rest of the team went 2 for 19 (10%).
We definitely need to be able to hit from long range to open up the drives to the basket by Case, Moss and Lowe. We did not get that today.
Also, too many well guarded shots being taken, both long range and in close, at the end of the shot clock and 16 turnovers is a lot to be competitive in any game.

Ah, well, on the CAA play...

Hicks gets minutes because he's a heady basketball player who plays within himself and doesn't make stupid mistakes. Players on this team with a lot more size should pay attention or Hicks will keep taking minutes.

This team is a disaster.

BTW, we play Elon at home on Thursday. That's our best chance for a conference win this season. I can't see us winning many at all.
