RE: A-State Early Football Signees
AStateNation said A-State added eleven players from the Portal, so assuming they have enrolled.

Seven had previously made their commitment public:
OL EJ Ndoma-Ogar, Missouri
WR Malik Hornsby, Texas State
CB Jordan Mahoney, UMass
LB Kyle Taylor, Tarleton State
DL Micaiah Overton, Texas A&M
DE Bryan Whitehead, Liberty
DL Lucas Banks, Mississippi Valley

Four have not, and because their addition is being reported behind the paywall will not list them here.

Did not include the punter, Brook Honore from Texas Tech, but more additions are expected.

RE: A-State 2024 Football Signees
Few notes from signing day:

AStateNation says A-State has at least 18 walkons .

Butch expects the new program offering free tuition, plus room and board to Arkansan's from household with incomes less than 70K and who have a 3.0gpa, and 19 on the ACT, to be a big help in recruiting walkons from the state.

Benedict College WR Reginald Harden Jr. (6-4, 200), who came down to A-State and Oklahoma State out of the Portal as a WR, began his college career as a 170lb walk-on DE at Florida State. He is tough.

Butch Jones said they will have packages that put WR Malik Hornsby-who has spent his career as a QB, under center.

Touted freshman QB Josh Flowers (6-2, 210) joins returning starter Jaylen Raynor (6, 205) as the only two scholarship QB's although PWO Will Prichard (6-2, 215) held a number of P5 offers. Of course Malik Hornsby (6-2, 190) could fill in if necessary.

With only losing 11 seniors to graduation and 6 scholarship player to the Portal, then signing 36 yesterday Butch Jones would not elaborate when asked how many scholarships they have left. Just noted that roster maintenance is a daily routine. Because of the late portal window, and so many players still in the Portal, spring practices has really become a tryout for next years team for many scholarship players across the country, and A-State will make room for any "to good to pass on" types.

Freshman WR AJ Wallace (6-2, 180) is A-State's highest rated recruit so far this cycle, and held offers from Central Michigan, Chattanooga, Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Toledo and Virginia Tech. Looks like Alabama was ready to join in the mix , but like the others was recruiting him for 2025, not 2024. Butch found out he was reclassifying and snuck one by them.

Butch reiterated what he said when he was hired and that is he wants to be the coach at A-State for a long time and build something special. It is expected that with this class, and the bulk of their depth chart and roster returning, most of the building process is behind them.

Calls this class his most complete class, but it is not finished.
