Junior Wesley Cardet Jr has been named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week, is Dick Vitales Player of the Week, and Andy Katz’s Player of the Week.

For the week, Cardet averaged 29.0 points per game on 21-of-33 shooting (64 percent), including 6-12 from beyond the three-point line (50 percent) and 10-14 from the free throw line (71 percent). He also had 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

For his part, ESPN named Chicago State coach Gerald Gillion as their Coach of the Week.

I remember him well. Not many people who come in as walk ons end up being a schools all time leading scorer and an All American. David Holston did both.

And I believe he lead the nation in 3 pointers for several seasons.
