College of DuPage has benefited from the number of IL community colleges sponsoring football dwindling over time. I believe they became the last IL community college football team standing 10+ years ago.

Joliet dropped in 2011, so I believe you are right.

Not sure why JuCo football in the southeast isn’t bigger. With so few DIII schools here, you’d think they could have some nice programs. Other than Mississippi there are only one or two in some of the other states, and none in Alabama.

There are a lot of kids that could benefit from a JuCo tech school offering them scholarships to play the sport they love and getting a beneficial education you can’t get in a traditional college or university.

Andrew College in Georgia is adding football next year, and Central Georgia Tech is being rumored to make their club team into a varsity.

ASA-Miami closed down 2 years ago. All 4 of their campuses closed. Only two had sports and both had football.

It’s not very spread around, but it is big. Mississippi has 14 programs, which is probably the heaviest concentration in the country geographically.

You’re right, it’s not huge when considering a large southeastern multi state region, but it’s not really very widespread anywhere except in pockets.

Keiser University (Florida) Wins NAIA Championship

Defending champion Northwestern College (Iowa) came into the NAIA National Championship on Monday on a 27 game win streak, but fell to the Seahawks, giving them their first banner in football.

Keiser went up 24-7 with 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. Northwestern rallied with 2 touchdowns in the 4th to close it to 24-21, before KU sealed it with a touchdown late, preserving the win 31-21.

It used to be pretty big in Texas, but now only a few sponsor it.
