Absolute total class act.

Very excited for the future.

Still a lot to be determined, but it's safe to say he's the most eloquent coach JMU has ever had.

Very impressed with Coach. Heck... maybe before it's all said in done we may run the ball for a gain in a must-run situation yet! Lord knows we couldn't for the past 5 years haha.

Love the guy and as others have said if he can coach any where near as well as he communicates look out!

That said the guy is a year younger than me and looks like he could be my son. Not quite, but certainly I could see players thinking he is way younger as he noted in the presser.

My guess is we upgraded once again. With all due respect to Cignetti, Chesney seems more dialed in.
Chesney has mentioned a few times about putting "stress" into practice (or something along those lines). That concept is what would have saved Barnett from his disastrous first steps out of the gate. I have a feeling 3 years from now we look back at this hire as another step forward in the program. I would think a lot of those folks in the portal are going to be second guessing in a few days about that move after spending time with the new coach.

Especially after that interview with Dave Riggert the other day where Coach said that the money he was dealing with at Holy Cross and at JMU aren't that different! Yikes!

Chesney has the gift of gab. The most important thing is he has won 7 conference championships in 14 years as a head coach at schools that had losing records before him.
Most recently won 4 titles in 6 years at tiny private Holy Cross which had losing records in 5 of the 6 years before his arrival.

He mentioned no rebuild, but advancing and accelerating what is already in place at JMU. Well kids, do the math.
The only thing that is better than this year’s 11-1 is 12-0 next year.

He basically said in the interview that players are going to have to decide quickly whether or not they want to stay. It seems like youre either all in or all out with him since he needs to get on the portal/recruiting trail quickly

I think he finally did tell the story. Something along the lines of every home game at Elon, the big time boosters would cook a whole pig and name it after the wife of the opposing HC. So...when JMU visited Elon, his wife was the name of the pig that day.
