Doug Grayson
The Elyria newspaper is reporting the passing of Doug Grayson. Born in 1946, Doug had a great career at Kent State as a basketball player. Doug was not only a talented player, he also was a humanitarian. Rest in peace Doug.

RE: Doug Grayson
I’m from Elyria and new Doug as he coached Junior High BB and was an assistant on our 1977 final four team. He was one of the nicest and classiest people you could ever know and one helluva a player. RIP Mr Grayson…

RE: Doug Grayson
I remember when he set the NCAA D I record for most consecutive field goals made in a single game. I think he still holds it He made 16 in a row and 18 of 19 for the game. It was against North Carolina in 1967. I know players have made more than 16 in a row, but over the course of two or more games.

Just looked it up and you are correct. He still holds the record.

I remember when North Carolina, no less, sometime in the 1980s tried to get the NCAA to recognize one of their players as holding the record. They claimed that a missed shot by the player was actually a pass! It was so bogus that even though it was North Carolina the NCAA said, "No soap."
