Our attendance was never great, but the midweek October games are going to kill averages. By November only the diehards show up for colder weather games and the fair weather ones in October are now on Tues/Wed/Thurs. Not a winning combo for attendance.

It's a huge step up from the coverage had when we were in CUSA.

Coverage (and money) was certainly better, perhaps even worth it. But attendance suffered. Necessary evil for now.

Sun Belt teams deal with midweek games and cold weather also.

When you can report tickets sold not real numbers from turnstiles you might as well just report “Yep” when ESPN asks about your attendance.

…. yeah, but I can’t recall a time when the entire conference played mid-week games for an entire month the way C-DOA did this season.

Especially with the bottom 4 SBC teams on the list having basically crap seasons. And, yes, I realize that TxSt was much improved but still think they fell short of where they could have gone as did we. But grats on solid attendance despite that.

This 100%. This was TXST’s chance at 9 wins that should have been punched. Was 9 wins deserved? No, but it was very much on the table. Luckily, the schedule sets up next season for an 8 win floor if the existing returners and newcomers just maintain development.

I’d expect 26K to be the floor for attendance next season especially with a USM, UL and a App/Marshall/JMU at home

Until all schools report attendance using the same method (tickets SCANNED, not tickets sold), I'm putting zero stock in any attendance rankings.

Anyone who actually went to USM games this year knows we had about 30k actual butts vs Alcorn. About 15k actual butts vs Tulane. And then around 5-10k the rest of the way. We legit had no more than 4-5k actual butts the final game vs Troy.

Almost all schools have switched to tickets sold. I think the comparisons are fair.

Add in the West Point is pretty much a 40 mi suburb of the country’s largest city. Colorado Springs is becoming a huge area too. Very shocked Navy isn’t in there- Annapolis is basically DC and a massive metro.

I already mentioned in Post 12 that Navy was an omission. 30,803

Yes, the Brigade/Corps/Wing are required to attend home football games. It's part of the brand; it's part of what makes us attractive to TV partners.

Those student bodies are only 4,000 young men and women.
If you "un-count" the Midshipmen and Cadets, Navy would still be top ten on that list, Army a couple spots off the top ten, and Air Force still top 25.

Actual attendance did totally suck this year, but I think your estimates are low. I’m not quite as good as guessing attendance as I was before we enclosed the end zone, but even after the 1-3 start, I’d put it at around 15k through the ULM game. I wouldn’t even put the Troy game as low as 5k. 5k is roughly the lower home side 60% full and not a soul elsewhere.

The number of people not renewing their season tickets next year is going to kill even the “sold” number. If Hall doesn’t pull a rabbit out of his a**, it’s going to get beyond ugly.

Hold up. According to MTSU fans, it doesn’t get cold in Kentucky or Tennessee.

I hate that Memphis ended up under 30k. It was a kick in the nads when Mizzou demanded we either take the 300k to cancel this seasons home game or allow it to be moved to the St Louis dome and Mizzou covers our travel. That game would bring out a 45-50k crowd.

We just played y'all last year, and should be due to see 2 of Louisiana, USM, ULM on next season's schedule.

That's a stupid cheap buyout. P5 school will never travel if they can pay you that little.

That wasn't a home and away. That was a slightly more expensive home game for Mizzou paid in 2 installments.

If it was scheduled as a H&H with each team paying the other $300k, then it was a dirt cheap Buy game for Missouri.
