The graphics department are winners again.

Excellent win. Faced some adversity in the 7th but still pulled it out against a legitimate national championship contender.

Another win tomorrow could help the at-large chances for us and the SBC in general.

This definitely does the rest of the SBC favors with a higher RPI. I don’t think we’ll be in the at-large conversation ourselves but it’ll help the rest.

Sun Belt probably figures to get 3-4 teams into the tournament this year.

Yes. Let’s be realistic.

It’s a good win, but it’ll prove to be more important for the SBC.

As a nay-sayer for this program for so long, I do have to give the team props for the big win.
I'm definitely not ready to say this team turned a corner, but it was certainly a confidence builder.
If this is anything like Ike teams, they'll balance things out by losing to some bad teams. Hope that doesn't happen, but we'll see.
Making the SBC tourney would be a move in the right direction.

This. We had a midweek series with Tennessee in 2019 (?) where we beat Tennessee 21-2. They destroyed us the other night. As excited I got, we were not competitive in the CAA and struggled against the Marists of the world.

Today and Wednesday against Tech will establish early expectations for this year. I don’t think we’ll have good information until Coastal-UMD-TXST in mid to late March.

Ikenberry teams are inconsistent. They’ll win when they aren’t supposed to and lose when they aren’t supposed to. That’s how he’s 185-186 here and 466-491 all-time.

Ike is 1-6 in Conference Tournament games. His only win was that gimme against a bad ODU team to play into the double elimination portion.

We've seen Ike teams have good wins before. Heck, even some nice series wins.

However, the team will then drop series/games to teams that are pretty poor. Just zero consistency during Ike's tenure.

Consistently inconsistent.
And this isn't just a year or two. There's a really big sample size by now.
It was the case at VMI too.
Honestly, it would be foolish to think this year would be different.
I've been fooled far too many times by Ike teams.
They play Arkansas again today and will most likely get obliterated and make yesterday look like a fluke.

baseball is a funny sport. The baseline expectation in a four game series, on the road, is to not get swept. Box checked. If we win today, it'll say a little something about this team. That said, I don't expect it from an Ike-coached team. Still, it was a nice 'W'.

An even bigger chance today.. . Arkansas has moved up to #2 in the rankings...go figure :)

I love and defend all things JMU, but a loss to our baseball team is usually considered a negative.

For Ike, I think boozeNammo nailed it lol
