What is the highest NET/RPI rating a Sun Belt team has finished with?

Oof indeed.

More concerned about the other side.

Would like to see all teams near or above 200 at a minimum.

I thought South Alabama had good basketball? Why do I feel like JMU and App could win out, split their games, one of them wins the tournament, and both not get to the NCAA Tournament? Obviously that's unlikely to happen but is that how bad this conference is?

Since we became DI in basketball we've had 6 (I think) head coaches not counting the current one. We've hired 3 major-conference assistants as head coaches, all were duds. On the other hand among the 3 good hires two had success as a head coach DII and Mark Byington at least worked in a mid-major conferences a while and was an interim at Charleston.

What does our silly athletic director do? Hire an Alabama assistant from a staff where it looked like the entire coaching staff was trying to get out of dodge (Kennesaw State and Ark State also took coaches from that staff).

We are dealing with injuries and newcomers. It’s going to be a tough year.

Conference play is going to destroy App and JMU’s ratings.

Unlike RPI NET works by using offensive efficiency - defensive efficiency. So as long as they are winning by a lot it won't matter.

Both of Cliff Ellis's Sun Belt legacies are neck and neck near the bottom! I do love the man but hate to see him sailing into the all-time winningest head coaches' sunset like this. Also, thank you, Georgia Southern, because misery does indeed love company...

With roster turnovers every year it may take some time to gel. At least that’s what I’m hoping……

Those are our peers in football. Our peers in basketball are different unfortunately.

That' what we were expecting last year. That many SBC teams being good at basketball at the same time was a new thing. Would love for it to be the norm, but it may have just been an outlier.

RE: Opening NET Rankings of 2023/2024
With a horribly weak SOS I don't think this keeps up unless by some miracle JMU goes undefeated this season, but good press for the Sun Belt while it lasts.

No A10 or most other mid-major conferences. Since it's going to be a long grind to build up the Sun Belt's perception in basketball by improving all our programs, it will probably happen quicker with Top 25s appearances and Sweet 16 tourney runs (when did that last happen?).
