My dude, if you think coosa is not still on life support in spite of lu, you are sadly mistaken. You had one team run the table in the weakest FBS conference. That is not an achievement.
I do not wish lu well in anything. They can kick rocks and here is hoping the Ducks stomp a mud hole in them.
and no I don’t think we are on life support. We have more money rolling in then the Belt does thanks to certain teams doing quite well.
I would expect the Ducks to stomp a mud hole in any G5 that made that game. The are literally sponsored by Nike

RE: Sun Belt & CUSA
I’ll root for all the G5s, but the reason some of us dislike CUSA so much is we used to be in the crapshow of a disfunctional conference. Judy is the worst. 9 teams left, WKU and MT almost did and should have. UTEP should have gone to the MW and CUSA dissolve. I respect LaTech unlike most here (for legit reasons). With there being just a P4 now, it would have been perfect for CUSA to go away leaving a G4. LU was doing fine, maybe even better, as an independent.

No, JMU wanted regional rivalries like we’d had for decades with Richmond and William and Mary. For years the SBC and CUSA were geography soup. Once the Sun Belt could provide those rivalries, we pulled the trigger.
ANYWAY, there is no “Sun Belt & CUSA.”

Thanks. I hope we win too. But it would take a massive upset. #8 Oregon (11-2) is such a strong football team. Boise St. did it against #7 Oklahoma years ago, so it can be done. Stranger things have happened.
I hope it doesn’t become too much of a “no win scenario.” If we lose badly we’ll hear that we never belonged there in the first place. If we win or hang close we’ll hear it’s because the Pac 12 was overrated, Oregon didn’t want to play against LU, all UO’s players sat out, etc. It’s all the same old excuses P5’s and the media pull out.
Good luck in your bowl game. I suspect you feel good about picking up a win in that game. Looking forward to seeing it.

Thank BigBuds. I wish I could say good luck in your bowl game, but I’ll be pulling for Jax St. Hope they wear those “kickin’ chicken” helmets. Ya ever seen those? They are pretty funny and great looking. At the very least, I hope both teams have a very clean, competitive and injury free game.
Hope we can face yall again for a couple games. We still owe you for the two butt whoopins you put on us in 19’ and 21’.

Never saw anything like the bad blood in moving from CUSA. We had our fair share of bad experiences in CUSA but I have no ill-will nor delight in you’re being in a tough spot rebuilding and conference leadership. I don’t see a benefit to a scheduling alliance mentioned in another thread. I also don’t get those who tear down someone else to feel better about themselves.
As a retired soldier there are 56Ms that I call brothers. But in the absence of anything like that I doubt many in the SBC or CUSA still think of the those in the other conference as a brother. Will always root for the G5 playing a P5 but that’s about it.
First, thanks for your service. What was your MOS? Don’t know your age, but maybe we served at some of the same stations, different times.
Yes, I would not expect to be brothers with any SBC fans, save for a few exceptions maybe. We’re more like aquaintances. I know you, you know me, we shakes hands, greet, exchange a few pleasantries, and then move along.
I remember, years ago, driving up through Ohio to go to the, oh I forgot the name of the bowl they use to play in the old dome in Detroit. But UofL was playing Marshall. I was confident we were gonna win. Bud Chad Pennington killed us the the Thundering Herd won comfortably. That was a miserable ride home.

I do believe CUSA's survival strategy is hurting the FBS long-term though and is marching us further to a Great Split. Adding 4 additional schools to the FBS, and possibly a fifth to be announced next year, forces the CFP money to be split further, and the power conferences already haven't liked sharing.
Thanks CardinalBlackTrojan. You should have a great bowl game with Duke. And it’ll be like a home game for yall bein’ so close.
I understand your point of view re: hurting G5 FBS. It definitely divides the money further. And the unknown re: new call ups success and the future of P4 can be uncomfortable. But if their are teams that meet the criteria that CUSA is looking for, I like the idea of providing the opportunity for them to excel and achieve their goals. I would think any team that has risen from the FCS ranks in the last 20 years (not yall) would understand that and be more accepting of teams trying to do the same thing. Shoot, even the SBC has invited FCS teams.

I am hoping we represent the G5 well also. It is actually a pretty big weight to carry. We have many hoping for complete failure, because we have a weak SOS, we are from CUSA, we are that conservative Christian school, we had a sketchy former president, we are G5, blah, blah, blah. And if, by some chance, we win, most of those same folks will look for ways to discredit an LU victory.
Does it feel good to be favored against Duke? I am sure yall will have a good game against them.

We are a conservative Christian family, and the first tour we took for my oldest son, an accomplished soccer player, was at Liberty during the 2020 Covid summer. During the tour, we were forced to meet with the DEI guy at Liberty (like how does that synch with biblical teachings?). Shortly afterwards, JFW Jr. trash came out. My son loved the atmosphere of the school and the investment in buildings and infrastructure. He decided that with a leader so tainted, he was not willing to make the commitment to Liberty that he would have otherwise. I hope the new administration heals these wounds, but it is hard to forgive administration errors when the student body is on virtual lockdown. I am a fan of LU mission, but all involved need to walk the walk before some folks like me would consider it a viable option. And this is a shame, as LU has a beautiful campus with great facilities, and founded on strong Christian morals. Show me..................

I'm pulling for LU to get its a** whupped and Troy to tap dance on Duke's bloody corpse.
While any G5 win is immediate statement for all of us, in the long game, giving the playoff committee pause before assuming going forward that an undefeated team is automatically the best one the G5 has to offer is the better play for the SBC.
