There have been mentions in several other threads of UAB players who have entered the transfer portal, but I was thinking it might be helpful for us to put them all in one place. Or at least to try to.

I know Dilfer said in his recent interview that he didn't expect that many to go, but I think the new world of the portal and NIL in college football will mean that we have 20 or more players every year who enter the portal. So don't panic when it seems like everyone is abandoning ship. They will be doing that at every program until this thing gets under control. Plus, there has always been roster attrition as players who weren't playing just quit, but now they will give the transfer portal a try on their way out. Those will just open up spots for more signees, so it's not always bad news.

If I remember correctly he entered it and then pulled out 3-4 days later.

Not really. He is a good player but had a ton of trouble staying healthy.

Bratton is a big loss. We were extremely thin at linebacker already. One of our primary players at ILB this year was a slow undersized walk-on. Bratton was the only legitimate option with experience; he finished the season as our leading tackler at LB (2nd overall). The only other true ILB option was a true freshmen. We were terrible at stopping the run, a doughnut team - big hole in the middle. The linebacker's primary job is to stop the run. If you don't understand how badly this team needs linebackers then you don't understand football. Hope we can get multiple LBs from the portal!

Unrelated to LB, I keep waiting on news about Amare Thomas. NIL being what it is I wouldn't be shocked to see him at some place like Ole Miss next year.

Hard to tell but I got 16 open spots some kinda way and 11 commits I could be wrong. But 11 from senior( really 10 but add Moran sub Sorrells) day. Then these last five in Bratton,Jones,Echols, Damon Miller, and Bradley I'd assume since all 5 played good reps and fit certain time periods in recruiting.

I think Dilfer being disingenuous, could have 20-25 new faces if he really wants to and I think he will.

All I remember was him not getting a graphic, not being included in the announced class, and Fairfield folks irate on Twitter that he didn’t find out he wouldn’t be on scholarship until signing day. I think it was Handley Sr.(HC at Fairfield, ‘17-‘21) that made the comment.

Kind of makes you think why it’s so hard to land anybody that played for him, after that stunt. Whether it be Perry, or the boys at Pleasant Grove. He did send Jr to play for us. Walked on.

Actually, Rudolph entered the portal back on Nov. 7 this year, then withdrew the same day.

Uses Damon to get Damien pulled spot for blueshirt so we could replace 30 seniors .Haven't had the success we should from that pipeline. Parker is another place full of talent we probably miss on
