Kent State vs. Shawnee State
The Golden Flashes look to get back to their winning ways on Thursday when they welcome, all the way from Portsmouth Ohio, the Shawnee State Bears.
Shawnee State is 4-3 and is coming off a win over Kentucky. The have also defeated Indiana and Georgetown this season.
So can somebody explain to me how they lost to Morehead State by 56 points?
Just win this one and get ready for SDSU.
Go Flashes!

Thanks.
No disrespect to Shawnee State, just being a smart alec as its tough to get excited for NAIA opponents.
However, SSU won 17 games last season, 18 the season before that and went 31-2 on their way to a national championship in 2020-2021. There is no doubt that Coach Hunter will keep the momentum going for the Bears this season.

BE CAREFUL .... These NAIA teams are often loaded with a lot of seasoned talent that can put a hurt on the unsuspecting. That 31-2 team mentioned above had a 7-footer who was quite dominant and a PG that was lethal.

Loud and clear cleveland.
However, I would guess that the national championship team did not lose to Bethel, Simmons or Florida Memorial. Let alone to a mid major by 56 points.

Granted, Shawnee St isn't very good at all this year, but at least the Flashes are dominating then like they are supposed to.

Interesting to see more guys getting minutes and playing well. Also interesting that Moss was the last one off the bench. Maybe an indication that Bekelja and Hayes passed him. Then he got in there and made that theory look absurd to believe. He looks like he needs to be playing more. There was a moment that I loved in the second half. He hit back to back threes then got the ball at the elbow extended. Young players generally take that heat check 10 of 10 times. He got his man in the air, took a dribble in, raised up for an open mid range shot, then mid shot whipped a pass to Hayes on the opposite block for a wide open layup. This is all a long way of saying, more Moss please.
Also thought Hayes looked solid, albeit against inferior competition. But watching him closely on defense you can tell he's got good defensive instincts. He could start finding a bigger role if our perimeter defense continues to be a problem. Sully, Gio, and Bass is a perimeter group that is not very strong defensively. The past two years we had the luxury of having two elite defenders as 30+ minute guards. We didn't have to find the right combinations to play good defense it just took care of itself. And hiding a weak defender was much easier. Now we don't have that luxury. So if Hayes can play good defense he could find minutes which I'm guessing is why he got the start tonight. I focused on Sullinger's defense a bit tonight. He has a habit of ball watching when he's not guarding the ball and he's frequently a step late reacting to his man moving.

With Senderoff, how well someone plays defense has a lot to do with playing time. Of course, that has been the trend with most coaches for quite some time now.

I agree, MORE MOSS!!!
It's pretty clear right now that Gio just isn't the same player. His shooting is atrocious and his turnovers are even worse. At this point, I'd give the bulk of those minutes to Moss. His defense may not be top shelf, but right now I don't think any backcourt player is all that great defensively. ... Also think Bass has to get his act together as well. Don't know if he's trying to do/learn too much or what. But he should be a lot better and a lot more productive than he is right now.
