Hell to the no. We are really trying to speed up the P4 split aren't we?

The split is in money only. If this gulf was as big as people believe, you wouldn't see New Mexico State beating Auburn by 21. In their mind, the SEC is the NFL while the G5's are like college football.

You'd never see a college football team beat an NFL team, much less do it by 21 points.

They are winning in messaging only. On the field, the Gulf between the Top 5 or 6 programs is widening from everyone while the rest of the 133 programs believe to be coming closer together.
I am not arguing there is a major competition split, I am arguing they are going to take their ball and go home and lock us out. They are sick of handing us money, they will do anything to lock us out and they are winning the propaganda war. If it does happen it will be worse then it is now. They will completely split and leave us in all sports not just football.

Our opinion of the Sun Belt was all about geography, not about the schools themselves. We had no interest in crazy travel and schools in far-away lands. When the package included bringing in Marshall and ODU to go with App, Coastal and the Georgia schools, the Sun Belt became very appealing.

So don’t look at us. We waited a loooong time for the right fit. JMU doesn’t do anything out of desperation or in a hurry (see: lawsuit, NCAA).

You would have been in a division with App, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and Troy at a time when you were geographically aligned with Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Stony Brook.

Difference is those schools were "football only" in CAA football for us.

There was a rumor we had inquired with SBC about a football only invite in that timeframe. We always wanted a more regional setup for all sports.

The CAA situation sucked too. Why jump from one bad situation to another? Do you think we valued frickin’ Stony Brook more than Troy?

Ever heard the term "pecking order"? Hens most certainly can and do fight. Some even crow like a Rooster if there is no Rooster in the flock.

History lesson from Deleware.gov

"Blue Hen State"
This nickname was given to Delaware after the fighting Blue Hen Cocks that were carried with the Delaware Revolutionary War Soldiers for entertainment during Cockfights.

So yes a Blue hen does fight and no a Blue Hen is not a hen, its a ****.

Edit - Cocks and Cockfight not censored but the singular is.

So wait... I've been cockfighting all wrong? No wonder I get weird looks when I get in the ring naked and the strange man across the way grabs his chicken and puts it back in the cage..

On the plus side, I've made a good bit of money and I'm undefeated...

App, ODU, JMU plus Liberty and Delaware from CUSA and Longwood and Queens.

Given the improved performance of App State Field Hockey the other schools with stronger programs and stronger history might be OK with this.

I would prefer to have all of our sports in the SB if at all possible and this is more likely than wrestling.

This would be good...and might as well take Belmarine in KY or Lindenwood in MOfor an even 8 while we are at it

I cannot find any other Indies or one off larger schools tht plays field hockey..any other SBCers thinking of it?

I could see it at Marshall...maybe Ga Southern?

Bellermine and Lindenwood are better off in the MAC.

I was thinking with the Delaware move that the SBC and CUSA should form a united conference for both field hockey and women's lacrosse, with FH under the SBC and WLAX under CUSA. 5 schools sponsor field hockey while 6 sponsor wlax. And if any other members start either sport they would be slotted into the united conference.

SBC field hockey - ODU, JMU, Liberty, Delaware, App plus Longwood and maybe Queens
CUSA w lacrosse - ODU, JMU, Liberty Delaware, Coastal, Kennesaw

JMU is better off in the AAC and MAC for lacrosse and field hockey, and screw Liberty, Kenne-Rogers and CUSA, in that order.

Why people want to willingly associate with the worst conference in the country as well as Liberty is beyond me.

I'm sure Delaware feels weird about joining a conference worse than where JMU and ODU are, but this is still a step up.

Ranked teams per G5
- AAC 1
- CUSA 1
- MWC 0
- MAC 0
- SBC 0

The top 2 in CUSA could certainly defeat the top 2 in the SBC.

I don't think Delaware feels weird lol.

Liberty COULD beat the Top 2. Would they? Doubt it. Liberty's best win is New Mexico State. New Mexico State's best win, outside of Auburn, is Jacksonville State.

Troy, App, and JMU would dispatch them.

Liberty's 133rd, out if 133, strength of schedule lends credence to the term "paper tiger". In a world where strength of schedule matters, as the AAC yelled for 8 years, Troy would be in line for the NY6 spot. Their only losses are to a Top 25 Kansqs State team and a Top 20 JMU team.

The 4 in my backyard are not what's for dinner, yet. They are currently providing what is for breakfast though.

This feels like the first smart move Judy has made in a long time. Delaware is a solid add from the FCS ranks. There aren't many left and they were one of them.

I dont know much about womens lacrosse but my sense based solely on who plays in the AAC is that you are probably correct there, at least from a competition level. That SBC field hockey league, on the other hand, would be much better than the MAC competitively. Dare I say it could be as high as third behind only the ACC and Big Ten. Virginia is second to PA in D1 players and a competitive regional league centered on the state would be highly attractive to recruits. For example, my daughters' hockey club in Richmond has alumni either currently on the roster or future commits at 6 of the 7 schools I mentioned (the only exception is App but they had one as recently as two years ago).

For a sport like field hockey, the reason you tolerate a school like Liberty is because sending the team to Lynchburg for a conference game is better than sending them to Mount Pleasant or Muncie. It is better for the small budgets, the student athletes, and the parents who account for a sizable percentage of the crowd.

Most years, they all play each other anyway OOC, why not make the local trips official, while making the trips to the midwest and New England optional.
