iirc, there was a tourney game against a decent TX team where we really put it to them in the first half. Maybe not this bad but for a tourney team from a power conference, it was something.
Against UTEP in the third round of the NCAA in 1992 during the Final Four run.
UC sprinted out to a 10-0 lead to start the game, and then to a 19-6 lead over the first 6 minutes of the game.
It ended up being a tight game with UC holding on for a 69-67 win.
UTEP’s coach was the legendary Don Haskins.
i was thinking about the 2012 tourney game against TX but i exaggerated the score in my mind. We led 31-17 at half. Not the same thing.
Man, this is fun. Aziz’s impact in his FIRST game is yuuge. Depth and talent and execution this season. Thank the Lord we’re in Year Three of CWS heading into the B12.

It’s hard to tell against the level of competition, but it certainly appears that way
They may not be a good P5 team...but they're still a P5 team, and they're being doubled up. Don't think we did that very often, if at all, in the Big East.
Mick was about defense. Wes is about offense. It’s a different era.
Wes is about both sides, of course Mick is too. Being a P5 team helps with getting guys who can do both.
GT scored only 7 points in 11 minutes during our run. Newman and Day Day (not to mention Aziz) bring it on defense and the rest aren't slouches either.

Vik is a crazy good defender too. His defense and rebounding are so undervalued by many.

Yeah, I was a bit worried he'd struggle playing the 4 against smaller guys, but that absolutely was not the case tonight. We had him on their best offensive player for a while (the guy Newman spent most of the game guarding) and Vik shut him down for the most part. Really Vik shut down pretty much all my concerns about him playing the 4. Though I'd like to see more of a two man game between him and Aziz in the paint, but that will open up if he can continue to hit threes. Vik scoring 15 points all on three's is probably the most astonishing stat line of this season.

This season was all set to be a disaster with the returnees from last year’s roster, then -poof- coach completely remade it in the space of what seems like two weeks in April.

Not to mention, only Ody and Newman are out of eligibility after this year.
With Aziz it seems a load of bricks has been taken off Vik's chest. Even if they're not on the floor together he's clearly more relaxed and settling in to his euro nature of being a stretch four and dropping in threes.

Could you see Vik declaring after this year? I have to imagine other schools will be after him with big NIL as well.

No...I don't think he's an NBA caliber player honestly, he'll and up having a VERY good career in Europe, just not athletic enough to play the 4 IMO and i dont know that he could play center either. He doesn't have an elite skill, and you need one to play in the NBA. IMO, Gary was a slightly better version of Vik in every area and he has really struggled to stick anywhere.
As for NIL...maybe? He has never struck me as someone who would jump at a cash opportunity over loyalty, but who knows.

Haven't seen any of this team because it's all been on espn+ but Vik would have to have a monster year to declare. Not saying it's out of the realm but he'd be coming out of nowhere with no buzz to jump into the discussion. if he plays that well then more power to him because it likely meant that we would be huge beneficiaries of his play as well.
As far as NIL goes anything can happen but he really seems to love this place and being a bearcat, at least from what i've seen. if he gets a BAG then, again, more power to him even though it would sux. But he can probably make a nice living in Europe rn if money was so important to him, [ed] and unlike some US players, wouldn't have the hang ups of going overseas since he is a Euro. i just don't see it.

Read earlier here that Lakhin can’t get NIL because he’s in the U.S. on a student visa. If true, may be the only reason he hasn’t already been poached.
