Bridgeforth In-Stadium Experience 2023
After thinking "what in the heck is going to happen next week" while attending the opening game against Bucknell way back in early September and after addressing parking concerns in Lot C4 I had with the Associate AD for Facilities, I can't think of a better time at a sporting event(s) than the last 5 home games (hate to admit it but didn't make trip alone to GA Southern game).

While there can still be long concession lines depending upon when you go to get something to eat or drink other than a beer, the increased importance given to using the scoreboard and audio in the stadium to make the commercial breaks fun has been greatly appreciated as a season ticket holder since attending the 2004 NC in Chattanooga.

I can only hope the play on the field and experience in the stadium continues in 2024.....

Yep, I agree. Since Bucknell, the longest my family waited for food or drink was 10 minutes. Some are still going to complain because they wait until halftime to go but if you avoid that, I thought the experience was miles better since a year ago. I'd like to find a way to pull out the cashiers from behind the counter to make things a little smoother at checkout. Otherwise, kudos to all for putting in the effort to improve.

Edit: it seems even non-football fans were really into the games because of all the content at timeouts, I thought it was on par with what I see at most P5 games.

Add more mobile concessions carts. The permanent ones that were built into the stadium structure do not have enough checkouts to handle the sellout crowds. Many of the foods and drinks can be serviced off of a cart to provide more points of sale and less wait times.

Part of this will be fixed in the future when the old side gets rebuilt. THen the end zone students won’t all come to one side

Beer lines have been much more efficient this year. I have a go to spot and never wait more than 2 minutes. A little more walking from our seats, but much less waiting.

Sound seems much better in terms of clarity. Less distortion and the proper audio level is being used.

I like that they took the loud firework boomers off of the playing field and now launch fireworks on top of the APC. Much better. (Don’t burn that place down though)

our game day experience is the best its ever been. The best part is the cheesy food race is finally over (ok a little sarcasm there, but I won't miss it).

The athletic department is listening to feedback.

That hokie costume food race was tradition! 03-lmfao

Many fans, my wife being one of them, kinda looked forward to it, and enjoyed rooting for Lobster. COGS

What reason was given for ending it?

It was linked to $3 special concessions and I'm guessing it was a pain to prep pizza rolls, ham biscuits, etc. We seem to be moving to fewer options to speed up concessions anyway.

That was the last one, they've been calling it the "farewell tour". We've been prepping our kids for next season, hah.

I think the in game experience is one of the biggest reasons we started seeing more fans staying.

I will forever miss lobster.
I do hope they replace it with something fun like that.

Lobster's appearance at the end of the race was great haha.

Excluding discussion on the concessions, lines, etc - The actual game experience was awesome. We've never had a more electric 4th quarter & maintaining at least 90% of the fans.

I was actually concerned the mezzanine was going to fall the way it was shaking the last half hour of the game. 03-lmfao

I like the items that are run on the big screen. They seem to be better than what I've seen at other games.

I love the 4th quarter sing-a-long and this was the first time when it started I was not in the mood to sing.
However, by the time it ended, I was singing along just like I always do.
Credit to those in charge of entertainment. They have really made it a great environment and hope they just continue to enhance it as the years go on.

Idea for a replacement skit is to have a dawg race to the end zone. You can dress up the fast dog in a JMU jersey. Let the mascot Duke Dog try to run in his costume. Put in a 3 legged dog or obese dog with the opponents jersey. Throw in a random college student that can fall on their face or blow a hammy trying to beat the greyhound.

Ready set go. 04-rock

Anything with a dog theme is lovable by the general populace and relates to JMU’s mascot.

Might need a staffer to man the pooper scooper in case of an “accident” 01-rivals
