Chicago versus Northern Colorado
NoCo has a NET of 237 and is 0-2 versus D1 teams. I watched them play a brand new, and still disjointed New Mexico State team last night. The Bears started out good and lead by 16, but didn’t look good in the second half. Defensive pressure had them turning the ball over a lot in the back court so I’d expect Chicago to be able to get some fast break points on them.

Northern Colorado has won 20 games 4 of the last 5 seasons, but are picked near the bottom of the Big Sky.

They aren’t terrible by any stretch, but they do highlight some of the strangeness in the early NET rankings, and how some of it starts based on past performance. When they were ranked 237, that was only including a total of one D1 game-a 17 point home loss to Colorado State. I’d guess they’ll end up closer to 275 by seasons end.

Tough loss. I wasn’t able to watch, but any OT loss is tough.

Let’s hope they are able to rebound and start getting more wins.

From the Chicago State write up, Northern Colorado went up by 15 early in the second. Chicago State came back and was up by 3 at the very end of regulation until NoCo hit a 3 to tie.

Chicago lost by 1 in the OT 78-77

Next up is Morgan State.

RE: Chicago versus Northern Colorado
Looking over the stats, here are some observations-

Wesley Cardet had a great game, as usual. 24 points.
Jahsean Corbet only scored 12, which is below his norm. Played an incredible 39+ minutes.
Cameron Jernigan is progressing and becoming a contributor. He had 3 steals, 2 assists, and 4 points.
Ked Green only played 14 minutes. But scored 10 points on 80% shooting. Had several fouls and a couple turnovers that probably explain why he didn’t play more.
Brent Davis had 4 steals this game, but didn’t score a ton.

Nobel Crawford has worked his way into a lot more court time. Played 33 minutes and had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and a big 4 blocks. He’s a real leaper. But he isn’t much of a scorer and only had 5 points in his 33 minutes. He’s dynamic and a playmaker.

Crawford is an upper class man and has several D1 seasons under his belt at Long Island U, so this is more what I expected (hoped for) from him.
