Don't know much about NMSU but seems like the Auburn win actually helps put them in a good place for 2024. In 2024 they get Texas A&M, win the conference and beat a new coach at A&M and they have a shot.

And since the AAC was formed, 2-1 overall,

Split bowl games with Houston and Memphis, beat Tulane.

The big difference is that Liberty had no stand out wins and struggled against bad teams. At least NMSU beat somebody of note.

Didn't Liberty already beat NMSU? By 16 points? That's a pretty notable win now. And if Liberty beats them again, it's not impossible to see them passing tulane. I doubt it b/c tulane has 2 tough games ahead of them, but Tulane has also won a bunch of games this year by very narrow margins. They've been good, but also lucky. Tulane is 18 in the AP poll and 24th in the CFP right now. Liberty is 22 in the AP poll and outside the top 25 in the CFP. There might be very little daylight between them in the eyes of the CFP.

They're also 8-3 against the schools there were never in the SWC or SEC. This post is not your best.

I got lazy. I was going to look up Auburn’s record vs G5s recently but got distracted by AAC aggregate. I’ll do better next time.

Opinions?

No. They have 3 losses and a loss to Liberty head to head. The loss to UMass is not recoverable from as far as NY6.

The UMass loss will sink their chances, shame since Kill is doing a phenomenal job there.

It's great that we were able to sink a season that wasn't ours for once.

The UMass/NMSU game in August ended up being one of the most critical games in the NY6 race.

Wasn’t that a 0 week game? Then a loss at Hawaii (very close) and a loss to undefeated Liberty. A ranked Liberty that they have a chance to avenge. NMSU started slow and then kicked butt toward the end with I think 8 straight wins.

No. Three losses is too many, IMO.

NMSU will not be considered for a NY6 game. If it gets passed Tulane, Liberty and SMU you get a bushel of teams to be considered ahead of NMSU. Replay the UMASS and Hawaii games and it might change but thats isnt an option.

Looks like we have a Necromancer in our midst. Cool.

BTW, I wanted to name my kid William Robert, but I've had only girls, so no Billy Bobby in my house!
