Smart move for him. He doesn't have to deal with recruiting, the transfer portal, and NIL. He has probably gotten BC as far as he can get them: middle of the pack in the ACC. And he's becoming OC for an up and coming NFL team.
Not sure what the salary difference is, but it's a good career move.
Wow. Is this the first time we've seen a "power conference" HC choose to leave for an NFL assistant job?
I just read that he's expected to make roughly the same salary, and he's leaving so that he can actually coach football instead of spending all his time recruiting and fundraising. I don't blame him, "coaching" in college these days is anything but.
Cadillac Williams (Auburn's Associate Head Coach/Running Backs Coach) surprised me. It seems like his position was secure, it was just too big of a headache and he had other non-football opportunities.
Wonder if someone like Tommy Rees would be a fit for BC? He unfortunately lost his job when Saban retired and Kalen DeBoer brought his staff with him. Rees just took an NFL assistant job (TEs coach, Cleveland). I believe Rees was a strong consideration for Tulane, before they targeted Jon Sumrall.
Leaving a HC job in the Sun Belt to be a position coach at a SEC school where he already coached. Judging by the X thread, he hated Atlanta and his family never left Columbia. Plus, with the portal and NIL, coaching in the Sun Belt only got harder.

He claims he told his daughter he'd be in Columbia for her senior year and was considering taking a year off from coaching. That's well and good other than the fact that it's the middle of February. If this was his plan there's no reason he shouldn't have resigned two months ago. And the AD has canceled the remainder of spring practices and the spring game, which doesn't seem like they had any advance notice whatsoever.

Yeah, he left them in a tough spot. There's no such thing as a good time to leave, but the timing here is bad. If he would have left during search season, GSU would have been in a better position.
I haven't checked any buyout details. I don't know if he owes them money for leaving.
