JMU’s “Athletic Training Center” will do for the time being. Constructed during the second year of Mike Houston’s tenure as HC, it’s always been thought of as a temporary solution for FB.

When a new IPF is built by JMU my guess is that this facility may continue to be used for Olympic sports or intermurals. It is convieniently located next to the university’s Sentara Park sports complex.

Another new rendering was released yesterday of the proposed new east sideline tower. It would be almost entirely premium seating.

It also shows permanent seating being added to the south end zone and the raised concourse connecting the east stands to the north end zone complex.

KBS is going to look very symmetrical with the east tower. The end zone seating is a must. My only request is get the south closer to the field and design it with future expansion in mind.

It will be extremely loud within those towers.

The renderings were released earlier this year to some people and I was fortunate enough to get my hands on them. A couple additional renderings which weren't released yesterday show a close up of the seating in the corners between the East Stands & North Endzone Facility and a closeup of the backside façade showing a little more detail. Thankfully the metal seating supports will be covered up and those blasted ramps will be replaced with seating. Elevators and stairwells on each end and in the middle will provide access to the second level.

Interesting thing about the IPF is it wasn't originally proposed with those buildings on the front. Rental spaces are so scarce in Boone they were added as a revenue stream on game day and the off season as well.
