James Madison's Jalen Green out for season with knee injury
I was very sorry to read this as I scrolled through ESPN.com's top stories! Next to Jason Henderson at ODU, this guy is the league's most dynamic defensive player. Here's to Jalen having a great NFL career as the silver lining to this unfortunate occurrence...

https://www.espn.com/college-football/st...nee-injury

Green had already set the Sun Belt Conference single-season record for sacks and was one sack shy of the program's all-time record.

Coach Curt Cignetti said Monday that Green was rushing the [Georgia State] quarterback from the left and when the quarterback ducked under the rush, Green tried to pivot “and his knee gave out.”

He was fun to watch this season. Very sad news.

On the next man up front, very interested to watch our young players who will be coming in to support in his absence. We have 2 I suspect will see increased playing time and both have size, but will their inexperience outweigh the size/talent. One of them I believe is listed at 6'2" 285. Not bad for a freshman.

Sad news indeed. He was going to set the NCAA single season record with four games left (assuming bowl). He had 15.5 and the record is 20.

The most confusing part of thee entire thing is why he wouldn't be eligible for another year. Something about the way he had an injury year during same year as covid. I honestly have no clue how the logic works, but just seems odd considering JT Daniels has been on like 7 teams now.

The Covid season 2020 was a gimme, if you played the abbreviated season it didn't count as a season of eligibility used so you could end up playing 4 full seasons and whatever portion of that season in total. You don't get a freebie if you were still in high school or otherwise redshirted that season.

2019 - 14 games played
2020 - Redshirt (COVID)
2021 - 13 games played
2022 - 11 games played
2023 - 9 games played

Had he redshirted in 2019 he would still have another season to play.

2019 - redshirted
2020 - played (COVID)
2021 - played
2022 - played
2023 - played
2024 - eligible to play

Really, his career was this year. He had been a backup until this year and had 5 sacks in 38 career games.
Then he blew up this year with crazy numbers in a sack happy defense.
