Brag on your non-SBC sports here.
Georgia Southern women's rifle team is ranked at #7 and should win the SoCon again.
Ark State's bowling team is in the top 5.
App State's field hockey team will probably win a MAC title.

ODU Field Hockey will play Temple tomorrow in the Big East tournament semifinals. Not as good as the team we had last year but some good young talent.
Old Dominion has a Nation leading 9 NCAA Titles in the sport.

ODU's field hockey run back in the 80s and 90s was ridiculous.

RE: OT: Your school's non-Sun Belt sports
As far as fall sports in progress, JMU just has field hockey. This year has been a total dumpster fire for a program that has historically been pretty good and won a national championship back in the 90s.
We're currently an independent, but will be joining the MAC next year.
Our other notable non-SBC short is women's lacrosse, which is typically a top 25 program and won the national championship in 2018. They play in the AAC.

Since beach volleyball is now an SBC sport, we have no non-SBC sports.
(Except football...)

Back in the day App St. Field Hockey was in the NorPac conference. Was crazy seeing the Stanford team on campus the year we hosted the conference tournament.

Neither has a realistic chance at one of the only 8 at large bids but I think it is quite possible both ODU and App could be in the field hockey tournament this season.
ODU deserved an at large bid last year but got cheated by ACC bias.
Top 10 Liberty is a tougher hurdle for ODU to get passed for the Big East title than any of the MAC schools will be for App, so I think App has a slightly higher chance this season. We will know by Sunday.
App finished the regular season 14-4 and a regular season co-championship, as well as Coach of Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and a league high 6 players on the All-Conference Teams.
Also, the final standings for the 3 SBC teams against each other are ODU and App tied at 1-0, and JMU with 0-2.
Also also, UNC passed ODU in 2022 with now 10 titles.

JMU played a really tough schedule this year, things should go easier once they join the MAC.

Yep. Gone are the glory days of ODU competing and beating UNC, UMD, Princeton and UConn now a days we are struggling to beat a crap like Liberty, Temple and GeorgeTown et al. Our glory left with Beth Anders.

Georgetown is really, really bad. I think my daughter's high school team could beat them.
I really like ODU's current coach.

Way to go ODU, knocking off #6 Liberty 3-1 for a Big East title and NCAA berth. Congrats.
I said above I thought App had a better chance than ODU bexause the MAC was weaker even though App is a weaker team than ODU. App fell in OT in the semis.
Good luck Monarchs in the tournament!

Thanks. Losing in OT is rough and we know that feeling. Realistically speaking what are the chances of App getting an AtLarge? It would be great if you guys can somehow be in the tourney.

ZERO
App is ranked 41 out of 82 in RPI, there are only 8 at large slots. They will be going to Liberty and 7 schools from the ACC or B1G. App had 14 wins, but 10 of those wins came against teams ranked 60 or lower (again out of 82). The only teams they beat higher than 60 were JMU, Ohio, Kent, and Louisville. They beat half of the bottom 25%, not exactly an impressive at-large resume in any sport. Last year ODU was ranked 12th and didn't get in (though 13th ranked Louisville did, which was stupid).

Yeah getting at-large is a tough one in FH. Congrats to App St on a solid season.
