I'll be visting my aunt who lives in Linville next week. When we were looking for stuff to do in the area I checked App's basketball schedule. We'll be going to the 1st game vs Oakland City (whoever that is) on the 7th. Where should I park and what should I expect from the game, atmosphere, etc?

I'd suggest parking at the River Street deck and walking down. They are building a deck right beside the bball arena but its not complete yet.

While expectations and engagement are pretty high for App standards, I wouldn't expect too much in terms of atmosphere. A few thousand in attendance. Our team is supposed to be pretty good this year so it should be an entertaining year.

I too have never heard of Oakland city, so hopefully we don't embarrass ourselves

Not the best opponent to gauge the interest especially early in the season. App’s students have shown out the last few seasons. It always starts slow then builds into conference play. There are 2 bars directly across the street from the basketball arena.

Park at Rivers St Deck and then walk over to the TApp Room. Eye-Opener Burger with Tots is my go to. Would expect this to be a very lightly attended game….unless the athletic dept. makes a real effort to attract the students. As was mentioned earlier, the student support has definitely improved, just probably not for this game. Hope I’m wrong.
