The thread title is clickbait. But it's midweek, and all football talk is fun. I hope a bunch of you travel down. The weather will be in the mid 40s most likely. Just how we like it. UB brought 11 fans. 11.

Appreciate the contribution Fans, but I ain't coming. Midweek night MACTION is still a sore spot for me, despite the shortest drive to a conference opponent. Some will say that the conference exposure is valuable, but when I see the HS game attendance on TV, I become dubious of that. It is just too freaking cold!

My goodness did you watch the MAC last night? Kent, BG, Akron and Ball St are truly HORRIBLE football teams! Unfortunately, both of our MAC wins are against two of them. We are not very good.

That said, while Creighton is 2-8 vs Toledo, sans his first two years, he always plays a close game. I would not be surprised to see a close game, but I would be ASTOUNDED if we win.

H.S. attendance happens in the MAC in November when all teams but 4 are alive anyways. Midweek at least gets exposure. I wish we had October MACtion instead in a trade with CUSA or the SBC who will see Temps in the 60s to 80s this week.

Toledo missed Akron and Kent, but in a weather game (which we may see Wednesday) Ball State was in it until the final minute. Toledo has played one 60 minute game vs. Illinois and only the defense has showed up for an entire game since. We are getable and the MAC is unpredictable.

Toledo shouldn't overlook EMU, but turnovers are always going to be in play regardless of prep and focus. I lean lower scoring game.
Is not sure why anybody would want October Maction. The weather is normally somewhat decent that month. Combine that with saturday games and the attendance is solid. Most schools have homecoming that month too. If there's got to be a Maction month, it should be November.

I've learned to appreciate the weeknight games. It's boys night out for me and some friends.

CUSA and the SBC don't put every game in October on weeknights. Just one or two a week. So every MAC team would still have a couple weekend games as well.

Everyone is mad about November, and mad about attendance and hates ESPN and blah blah blah, but obviously there are lots of disagreements on what's right. Unless you sell out on weekends and get no one on weeknights it's not really worth the discussion. The money and exposure wins out. It's why I'm not surprised nor mad the BG game appears on weeknights. I don't like it for 8 years in a row, but of course ESPN wants that game. The same goes for the battle of the bricks, the Michigan school games and the Wagon Wheel.

Not sure if you saw the news from this summer, but certain rivalry games will be switching to a rotating system that'll allow them to return to weekends every two years.

I'm fine with November MACtion. If my team is out of bowl contention, there is a very small chance I'd be going to a November game anyway. To an extent, I actually appreciate it. I look forward to having a Saturday where I can watch a full slate of games. I love my Eagles, but I've missed a lot of big national games this year. Overall, it allows them to get more money and exposure, and it being in November hurts attendance the least IMO.

Valid point guys. Reasoned opinions need to be respected and I do.

As a season ticket holder for years, however, I value the in-person game experience as much as the game itself. Tailgating with friends, listening to the band, running into fellow alums, etc... I was not impressed with 2020 Covid TV only season.

Let's examine this from a WMU fan perspective:

You open the season at home on Thursday, Aug 31.

In the next five weeks, you play three payday games for the $$$ and get one weekend game at home vs. Ball State.

Then the October 14 home game encountered some incredibly cold and rainy weather, to the degree that I did not attend EMU's home game, something that I had not done in nine years.

The next two home games are mid-week MACTION and almost certainly will have low attendance.

So, at the end of the season, you had just TWO home football games with tolerable weather conditions and one of those was on a weekday. Why would any University allocate resources to upgrading their facilities with such low potential attendance issues? If you loved the 2020 Covid TV only season, my opinion is indeed off the mark. I just like actually going to the games.

We were excited as season ticket holders about the THREE October home games. Unfortunately there were weather issues with all three dates. At least the first three home games had actual attendance numbers of people in their seats. I assume basketball attendance will take a dive this season. My wife and I haven't decided which home games to attend yet. By the way we just spent $28 dollars for the two of us to see a movie. The cost of movies is rapidly approaching the cost of EMU sports. I agree with Jerry that in person is much better than TV in almost any sport.

So far looking like some rain and 46-49 degrees for Wednesday. Rather have it 10 degrees colder and no rain. Crossing my fingers for that 3.5 hour game window. Good luck Eagles!04-cheers

The cold and rain favors us Boca. That is, at least, to make it interesting. It's no secret that you have the best athletes.

It for sure does. Toledo still has a top 5 rushing game in the nation and hasn't let Finn loose since UMass 4 weekends ago. Toledo also has given up the least amt of sacks in the country to this point. I'd bet the under.
