I will take this statement in jest.

RE: Proud EMU Moment
(10-31-2023 07:32 PM)Jerry Weaver Wrote:  Number 21 did not spend four years at EMU, nor did he expend Maxx Crosby's effort while there, or for that matter make legitimate contributions to the program's success. That is logically undeniable. Good ole "one and done" TWENTY ONE joined a team that had ten victories the prior season and descended them to just EIGHT! Maxx did leave a year early but unlike his All-Mac partner, Mike Dianna at CMU, he did not transfer to U-M for his last year and identify his school as such. He is EMU solidly and a builder of the program's resurgence. I simply cannot say ANYTHING near the same about Emoni.

That said, you THREE AMIGOS may be correct! When I see Emoni Bates cut a check for $1M to EMU, I will indeed apologize, but hardly holding my breath for that to happen. To date, however, I see Crosby making tributes to EMU, while Emoni claims that while in Ypsilanti "he lost his love for basketball". Please don't mention Maxx and Emoni in the same breath, #21 does not in any way deserve that to date.

No one mentioned Maxx and Emoni in the same breath. Literally because we are typing (03-lmfao). But moreso because Glory simply made a post-comma comment on something that was a connection between himself, BobW, and I. There was no mention of Maxx pre-comma. It was half a sentence in which Emoni Bates wasn’t even praised (at least not directly) and, of course, you rebutted this with a lengthy dissertation of how inadequate Emoni Bates particularly in relation to Maxx Crosby… I will point out the irony that you were the only one mentioning Maxx and Emoni in the same breath.

Maxx Crosby is an absolutely incredible person- from what I can tell from the media portrayal. Promoting sobriety, “appears” to be a loving father, volunteers in soup kitchens, etc. This guy is a saint irrespective of his athletic abilities or his loyalty to our beloved EMU. Of course, he AMAZING at both and we are SO LUCKY to associate him with EMU. End point.

I say this completely independent of the two individuals: Emoni Bates at the height of his fame included his hometown EMU in his considerations for recruitment (referring to high school, not transfer); Emoni Bates as a 12 year old child helped a clinically depressed Ty Groce by inviting him to come work out with him and his dad; right from the start of his recruitment as a transfer, he again included EMU in his considerations from the start putting our name instantly in national media. These are are all documented, and things that I value. Whether it is more or less than Maxx Crosby or anyone else, I see no need to compare.
