Piling on here, if we are making adjustments coming out of halftime they're hard to notice! I can't think of a single time where I thought "oh Dane clearly said something about coming into the high post, spacing the wing, etc" and it's a big reason why I never thought we're playing with intentionality.

FWIW, the second half yesterday seemed like we were focused more on going through the "motion" of the offense. So it's likely that he addressed the point of the game at halftime.

tbh, I generally like Dane's coaching style. I prefer coaches to prepare the way he does and I like that he's not pulling players for a single mistake. But I think he's also too far on the other side of that. Taking a step back, it's a frustrating style as fans because we don't get to see when he's upset. The perception is that he doesn't care, but really it's that he cares about the players. Throwing a fit on the sidelines or subbing a player out and then getting into him generally doesn't help, it just makes fans aware that the coach is unhappy. Having the same process when a player is playing well or playing poorly means that he's not calling anyone out, and it has to be better for a player's mindset. They know when they're doing things right and doing things wrong. Having that pointed out to thousands of fans doesn't make it more or less true.

We run a free flowing motion offense. There are some rules, but it is very much read and react. I can see why players would enjoy it. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think Dane has put any limitations on what individual players roles are. Square up, make a move, if open- shoot. I don't think this is necessarily bad. Nobody likes to be told what they can and can't do. But, sometimes we settle for an OK or good shot when working the offense a little more might create a great shot. I'm not saying I don't want Charlie Williams or Trey Moss shooting an open 3, but there's a chance that a couple extra passes might find an open cutter for a higher percentage shot or find Houpt/Dorsey for a higher percentage 3. I'd hope comfort level and shot selection improves as the season progresses.
I do like the commitment to defense being displayed. If that is steady it should keep games tighter despite our inevitable cold spells on offense. Regent isn't the greatest test, but this unit has the feel of one that can defensive rebound effectively. If this proves out, limiting 2nd chances would be huge keeping us competitive.
