Delaware is in a punitive conference. Their football program has a good chance in making the FCS playoffs and Lacrosse program is highly rated. CAA will shut them out of post season play, so can see this dragging out to late spring.

Delaware voted for those provisions and has been aware. They are no victim here.

I mean lots of people can see lots of things. I was asking if ArmyMike has actually heard something on this, because I haven't heard anything additional since the game against Army's broadcast on Saturday.

I would agree here. It would also be in the best interest of the conference they'd be moving to to get it done earlier.

NONE. It is either Not happening OR they quietly wait to avoid punitive CAA action.

Wonder if Delaware would do it in two steps as CAA Football, former Yankee Conference and A10 Football is separate from the CAA.

Delaware football wouldn't be affected even if they announce today. They will get an at large into the NCAA playoffs and they don't need the CAA's FB auto bid.

Which of the 17 CUSA sports are not mandatory. This is my best guess but clearly like to be corrected

Looks like Beach Volleyball, Men's Tennis, men's and women's golf. So may need to take a few scholarships from rowing to add volleyball. WE have baseball but not aware of men's rowing if that is the R. and we have women's rowing.

IMO--CUSA would make exceptions or do whatever needed as long as they brought along the basic sports both sponsor. Not having Volleyball would come no where close to being a concern.

BUT--till we have stronger reports-- I'm not so sure Both sides want this all-sports deal.* Geography is a stretch and UMASS BB boosters will not be happy.

*A combo with Delaware all-sports might make the move more palatable.

UMASS may determine they want the MAC or maintain the status quo a little longer.

I am quite surprised by the lack of men’s soccer. I am shocked UTEP doesn’t play baseball. That seems un-American. I wish there were more field hockey and Lax teams. I would love for Liberty to have hockey, rifle, rowing and beach volleyball. Bowling seems like it would be an easy enough sport to sponsor.

A few other factors (discussed elsewhere) might add in to the UMASS decisions (assuming CUSA wants them).

IF A10 loses VCU--"perception" that A10 is weakening.

Army going to AAC--might make scheduling as an independent even more difficult.

Lack of immediate interest from the MAC--and none from the AAC.

A possible pairing with fellow East coast school Delaware.

UMass saves 1M by giving at least a years notice to the A10, but football in theory could go in 2024 if the scheduling can be worked out. We play 5 MAC teams, 3 Power 5 teams. There is Army, Liberty and a fcs team. Guess the big if is how flexible the MAC teams are, but 4 of them are on the road.

Army would probably want our game gone so they can do AAC more easily, Liberty would be a conference game.

The MAC games would likely be an issue.

But that does kind of make even more sense for us to join the MAC instead since we're already more than halfway to a conference schedule there.

Quite possibly everything other than MBB, WBB, FB, so long as they play two other women's team autobid sports sponsored by the conference and 6M/8W sports sponsored by the conference, with a reduction in the quotas by one if they play 1M and/or 1W sport affiliated in another autobid conference. If they both have M/W Cross Country, Indoor Track and Field and Outdoor Track and Field and M/W Lacrosse find a home, that is already set on the Men's side. Given that they both play women's softball, soccer and Tennis, then WBB, Softball, WSoccer, WLax, WCC, WITF, WOTF, & WTennis makes eight .. with four team sports rather than the minimum three.

It seems to me that both UMass and UD are set as core members already. There'd be no need to require either to add any sports.
