Selling them on travel to Corvallis, Oregon and Pullman, Washington would be impossible, not to mention the "institutional fit" that was previously brought up.

WSU and OSU's best chance it to somehow convince the Big 12

Big 12 should take them. No one would leave the ACC to go to the Big 12

You know, we heard the same thing about Pac 12 teams never going to the Big 12 over and over and over. lol

I would love to see your list of other people that could afford it

Yeah, there aren't many schools that would say "I'm not worried about $200m".

Liberty? Probably not, but they're the only one I can think of.

Would Tulane or Rice be able to afford if they cared to?

If Bezos wanted Princeton to, they certainly could. My point is SMU had major donors step up.

Yes.
But … do we care to?

Probably get a better deal if we wait until the league needs more teams.

WasSU and OrSU just need to get through the Kubler-Ross five stages and get on with their lives before it's fall 2023 and they have nothing and no schedules.

Pretty much this. There are no major airports near Corvalis or Pullman, neither is near a major city. Neither has a very large fan base (OSU a bit more than WSU, but splitting hairs honestly). Academically mid-tier. Both will necessarily be cutting their athletics budgets substantially in the coming years, and then if you were a P4 conference looking to expand, other schools would probably jump much further ahead.

ACC would likely pair the west coast teams together to limit the cross country travels and if the revenue was additive then it seems that there is noone losing out except ESPN.

Would the ACC accept more West Coast teams. In for a Penny in for a Pound?

Hardly likely, I'd say, but possible if the ACC loses two or three current members in the very near future. It's far more likely that Oregon State and Washington State help to build a conference with B12+Gonzaga or with MWC neighbours.

The ACC won't be 'in for a pound' on the west coast unless the San Francisco schools are 'in for a pound' with the ACC. Everyone knows they aren't. So.

It's more likely that the ACC expands west as necessary with easier-access schools like Tulane and Memphis, TCU or Rice or Colorado State. Oregon State, Washington State, San Diego State? Unlikely.

I remember similar statements being made about the 4C schools leaving the PAC.
No one ever said that. Many of us actually said the opposite. If the media money was bad then everyone would jump ship.

I think the 4C's might have been the ones saying it (along with George K), moreso than message board posters.
