SFA and ACU played two overtimes in the women's game and one in the men's game, and we lost both. Can't help but feel a bit sad right now.

I'd trade ya. UTA women have one win on the year.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
That seems so strange. I think I remember the UTA women being very strong. Such long histories cause one to remember both high and low points. We have all had them. Heck, I remember when the best lady's team in Texas was... get ready for it... Wayland Baptist. I did not even know where they were located.

Plainview I think if I remember correctly. are they NAIA or DIII? They are very obscure even in west texas.

I'm not certain, other than we lost the reigning player of the year to the transfer portal.

Well, they played 6 players at a time per team up until 1969 for the NCAA and maybe 1971 for AAU. Three players were on the defense and three on offense and they were not allowed to cross the mid stripe on the court. So it was 3 on 3 for years. Wayland was famous for its lady's team and they were dominate whomever they played. They were called the Flying Queens.

And you are right, they were from Plainview, Texas.

UTA's women finally found offense and scored 74 in a loss to #8 ranked Colorado. Gave up 95. Play Sam in a week and a half.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
ACU showed a lot of grit and promise last night. Undefeated TCU had to take us seriously all the way to the final buzzer. I really thought we could have had them to around 10 but as close as we got back into it and ending it under 20, with the performances we had was a good night.

What is wrong with Tarleton? We are horrible. Likes like an extremely dysfunctional team and seems to be very poorly coached. I wonder if there are some internal issues.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
The Lady Texans are hard to explain. They are quick, move the ball well, but just have not clicked yet. Tonight the Wildcats took them down 73-51 and played almost all the bench. Our starting center did not dress out due to an ankle with a boot on it, but the replacement played very well. The scheme the lady Texans play is not that hard to guard and that is one serious problem. The ball passes around the perimeter until time is almost out and then they just look for any shot they can get. They are putting a lot of effort into things but whatever they are trying to set up does not typically happen. Maybe time will help. Your Ladies need a win to gain confidence.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
Tarleton has the burden of both a new coach and being still in the transitional phase. I'd want the best, but what they've done on the men's side is pretty rare.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
For me, the problem with the women’s team, is they have gotten worse as the year has progressed. They are healthier now than the beginning of the season so I’m not sure what is wrong. They are really struggling to score and the games haven’t been close.

And in case anybody cares, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs is 11-7 after finishing 10-18 last year. For those who don’t know, former Tarleton WBB coach Misty Wilson is coaching at UCCS.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
Current NET rankings prior to Saturday's games:
93 Grand Canyon
127 California Baptist
150 SFA
187 UT Arlington
193 Utah Tech
193 Abilene Christian
254 Utah Valley
259 Southern Utah
273 Tarleton St.
293 UTRGV
325 Seattle U

I didn't see NET rankings at the beginning of the season so I'm not sure what conference play has done. The NCAA website doesn't breakdown the wins by Quads, but hard for me to think that a combined 48-13 (16-4 rough record average) record averages out to a 123 ranking.

On the plus side, only one team in the 300's.

I know this isn’t WAC, but still

Misti Wilson and UCCS won the RMAC this year. Congrats Coach Wilson and the Mountain Lions.
